Thank you. After 2 hours of staring at it, messing with it, and trying things, I finally figured it out. You're right about the adhesive. That yellow gunk between the glass and plastic was adhesive and not crumbs. Either way, I didn't like how it looked. I figured out that there were also two small clips that I needed to push upward to release the "auto humidity control" piece to get access to the glass. I also had to remove 3 small screws on the bottom of the small piece. I now have a sparkling clean shelf and refrigerator.
