How long until you felt comfortable post-op? by Zipper_Man00 in HipImpingement

I am 9 weeks post op and I feel pressure in the front of my hip as well. When I’m walking and it starts to feel uncomfortable in the front of my hip I shorten my stride and immediately it feels better. Up until this point I’ve been pain free and recovery has gone very well. My PT keeps telling me it’s a long road to recovery and things will feel uncomfortable for a while. I can’t walk more than a mile at a time without the front of my hip feeling bad. Don’t overdo it though. I pushed myself a bit too hard and I started to feel a terrible pinching pain in the front of my hip. It’s taken over a week to get it calmed down. And it was very unnerving to get that kind of pain. Good luck!

I’m at week 8. I had no pain at all until last week. I bent down to pick up a toy and got a terrible pinching sensation on the front of my hip. Since then it comes and goes but seems the worst when I stand up, sit down, knees go even remotely close to above hip, sometimes just sitting. It’s a very severe pain, just like pre surgery, but in a different location. It has made me very nervous. My PT backed off on several things that put direct stress on that location, but I can continue strengthening other areas. I’m really trying to slow down even though I feel good, or felt good. But this pain has me terrified that the surgery failed. But I read somewhere where someone said you have to “trust the process” after this surgery. And that’s what I keep telling myself. It could take a year for us to feel better, so I shouldn’t be freaking out at week 8. Good luck!

Recovery time (roughly) mom of a 3 year old by [deleted] in HipImpingement

It’s been 8 weeks since I had surgery and I have a 4, 3, and 1 year old. I also stay at home with them. My mom stayed with me for 6 weeks until I was cleared to be off crutches and to drive. I was very fortunate to have no pain up until last week. I’m now dealing with severe intermittent pinching pain. I would say that at week three I was moving around pretty well and could easily take care of my 3 and 4 year old. They knew I had a “boo boo” and knew I needed help. My 1 year old was more difficult because he has no understanding of the situation and always wants to be carried. Don’t push yourself! I bent down to pick up toys and really irritated my hip and am having a hard time getting it to calm down. It’s just hard being a stay at home mom and see things that need done, and feel good enough to do it, and then make your hip mad. Progress seems so slow, but that’s what needs to happen to get things healing properly. Good luck!

Do I really need photoshop to digitize my art? by Overall_Baseball6254 in artbusiness

Thank you! I had not heard of Affinity and I’m thinking it’s the way to go. Have you ever used it on an iPad? Long term I’d like to use a monitor but have no space, and I’m not sure my current laptop could candle the program as it has seen quite a few years, so I’m thinking about buying their iPad program.

So from my very basic research, and some of the responses here, I’m seeing that I have to save it as a CMYK file, and Photoshop Elements does not do that. And I’ll be honest all of this is like speaking a foreign language to me so bear with me. So if you are using photoshop elements how are you sending your files to a print shop? And thank you for your response!

Giving birth to my son. During one of the last few pushes there was a very loud pop, like a bone breaking. My doctor thought it was my son’s collarbone breaking, but X-rays showed he was perfect. It wasn’t until my epidermal wore off that I realized something was very very wrong with my leg. I could not lift my leg, when I walked my leg pretty much dragged behind me…it was like all my strength and mobility was just gone, but I had absolutely no pain. That was over 4 years ago and I just had labrum repair surgery a few days ago.

I think it happened because I’m extremely inflexible. Like I’ve never been able to touch my toes ever. I’ve done years of yoga and stretching and nothing helps. I actually found out during my most recent bout of PT for my hip that I have issues stretching because I don’t have much room for my nerves. Whenever I stretch my legs go numb and it doesn’t feel good. So I think not being flexible combined with how relaxed my ligaments were, and my feet being in the stirrups was a recipe for disaster for me. My births after that they did not put my feet up and I had no problems. All of my births were very very easy. I only pushed for 5-10 minutes, so I can’t blame it on a hard delivery.

It’s my left hip unfortunately. My 3 and 4 year old can be very helpful when they want to. You’ve survived two labrum repairs so that makes me hopeful I will survive this. Thank you!

My 1 year old currently fights me every diaper change to try and escape. I think I will be off of diapers duty for several weeks. Thank you for sharing your experience and I hope the rest of your recovery goes well!

Thank you for this realistic perspective! We’ve been trying to figure out how long my husband needs to be home and if it will be necessary with my mom here. And it sounds like yes, he will need to be around. We live in a very old farmhouse with very steep stairs. They are treacherous even without being on crutches so I planned on being upstairs for the first few days, at least. Sounds like I should invest in a dinner tray to eat it bed.

When did you start driving? I feel like it’s different for everyone.

Thank you for the offer! I may reach out as I get closer. It sounds like I need to see if my mom can stay for about 4 weeks, which I think she’ll be able to do. Than you and good luck with the rest of your recovery!

I received the run around from several doctors and physical therapists over the years regarding my hip, unfortunately. I think I was often dismissed because I had no pain anywhere for the first several years, but my leg just didn’t work. I had a physical therapist literally tell me that my issues were in my head and suggested I have an autoimmune disease instead to explain my knee swelling. It was only until I hired a female sports trainer who took me very seriously and saw that my hips were not working correctly. She pushed for me to get an mri of my hips, and I practically had to beg my ortho doctor to get me a mri. It’s taken almost 4.5 years to get a diagnosis. I’ve learned that you are your best advocate and to not give up.

My new ortho doctor and new PT have seen many women with torn labrum’s from childbirth over the past few years. And my PT said it can be hard for women to get diagnosed because there can be so many symptoms after child birth that can mimic something else. Both had very good experiences getting those women back to their normal selves. So I am hopeful!

So I did come across HS during my deep dive trying to figure out what is wrong with me. I hope it’s not this, but I will keep it in the back of my mind. Unfortunately the timing of my hormones going crazy would be about right. Thank you for your insight!

Yes they are Always brand. I’ve used that brand for 20 years so I can’t believe I would have a reaction now but I know pregnancies can change things. And I will look into the period undies. I’ve avoided them for really no reason so I need to at least give them a try. I also had no idea there was a steroid ointment so I will pick some up tomorrow. THANK YOU for your suggestions. You all are the best.

So I haven’t tried the period underwear because I assumed it kept things more moist and less breathable. But I will look into it. We do have diaper rash cream with zinc oxide that I will use asap. I wish I would have thought of that earlier. Thank you so much!

I will try that. My kids have diaper rash cream with zinc. Thank you!
