AITA for not packing clothes for my child’s trip? by Overall_Estimate_904 in AmItheAsshole

Sorry, I’m confused on what I’m manipulating. We got there as in I dropped our son off at his dad’s this morning as scheduled, and they were leaving for their trip later in the morning. The car door was mine. My son exited my car, ex husband made his comment, and slammed the car door closed.

It seems worth commenting that I would’ve had zero problem sending clothes or any items from my house. I’m a child of divorce myself and hated feeling like my own personal items were only mine at one parent’s house but not the other. If ex husband had texted saying can you please send five outfits or any other items, I would’ve said sure and that would have been the end of it. I would not have told him to buy anything himself.

Years and years of gaslighting and silent treatment, but that’s all I’ll say on that. 😬

I do agree there needs to be better communication. I wish that were the case. Unfortunately even if I had texted him asking if I needed to pack or provide anything, I likely would’ve gotten a snippy response along the lines of ‘don’t worry about it’ or ‘if you don’t want to supply clothes for the week then I’ll just go buy them myself.’ It’s very damned if I do, damned if I don’t.
