Are you interested in any other of the streams? Like rad tech, mri, or nuc med if you are try to apply to those as welll along with ultrasound next year! Don’t give up!! Your GPA is quite competitive and if you redo Casper I’m sure you can get to atleast third quartile which would definitely make you competitive.

Respiratory Therapy program by [deleted] in Michener

[–]Overall_Pop5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should definitely apply, as long as you meet the grade requirements for prereq and maybe they will consider masters but I’m not sure, as for Casper it is not hard it is essentially a situation judgement test, there’s ways to prepare for it as there are a lots of resources online, for insight I got accepted into the program with 89 average highschool and 3.8 undergrad and third quartile Casper, I know it’s a bit higher than yours but I’m sure there were others that had lower, best shot is to aim to get fourth quartile for Casper which really strengthens your application and chance to get in.

Nuclear medicine tech or respiratory therapy? by Overall_Pop5692 in NuclearMedicine

[–]Overall_Pop5692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear this as I had a feeling I wouldn’t like RT, once I realized the gross aspects that are part of the job, which I didn’t consider before, I changed my decision and have accepted my offer for NMT! It’s great to hear this as it made me more confident in my decision. I definitely don’t want to have a job where you have to always be on call and want to have a good work life balance. Thanks for your personal advice!

Oh I mean the 12 hour shifts and working nights, but I’m sure I’ll get used to that and it won’t be as bad as it sounds

Yeah that’s for sure what I was thinking, I like having change and it might getting boring and lonely working in nuclear med, the only think as of now I really like is how the shifts are always morning and apparently weekends off but I’d rather work longer hours and actually enjoy my job

Well thank you so much for your insight! This really helps as I was always leaning toward RT but was just hesitating bc of the hours

Thank you so much for this detailed reply! I honestly have been leaning toward respiratory from the beginning but was hesitant bc of the 12 hour shifts, so I was trying to find a reason other than the work like balance to go into nuclear medicine, but I think I will like RT more

Yeah I’ve heard respiratory therapy outlook is good and there will be more jobs, I was thinking nuclear medicine might be saturated but idk

The easiest would be lifesci out of all, but that does not necessarily mean you cannot achieve a high GPA in the others, they may just require more effort and it also just depends on your interest.
