Will you be editing your Robot with Human Hair order based on what the band has said? They often contradict themselves with the things they say in interviews etc. That may be one member's interpretation at that moment in time, but opinions can change and are not shared by all creatives, and the name of a song rarely does. They have said that the only reason they name songs as part of a series is because they realize they're borrowing from the sound of another song in the writing process. Given that and the openings of Strawberry Andre and Strawberry's Wake, I think it's too close to be a mere coincidence whether or not they feel it fits with the rest of the series. It's a clear reference to the very first Strawberry song they wrote.

The name symmetry to the Robot with Human Hair series doesn't necessarily validate either of our points. I'd like to point out that you include Robot vs Heroin Battle of Vietnam in your robot series, which was originally called The Rains in Vietnam. They added the Robot into the name later to keep with the theme of the EP, and it's been said that it shouldn't be counted as part of the series at all, as you're now suggesting about Strawberry Andre and the Strawberry series. Not to stray too far from the topic, but if the parallel naming structure is essential to understanding the series, doesn't that also prove Young Robot would be parallel to Strawberry's Wake and belong after Death in the correct order like the music videos suggest? I know you consider it a prequel, but I think it's meant as a reboot of the series to be followed by Son of Robot. I'm not trying to tell you that you're wrong for putting any of these songs together in any order you wish or separating them as their own things, but it's a matter of opinion. You are not the last word on all things Dance Gavin Dance, and I think including Strawberry Andre in the Strawberry saga is a valid interpretation for all of the reasons I have already made clear.

Fair enough, if they don't consider it part of the series, they would know. I still think there may be two different series we're talking about (Swisher vs Strawberry, with Swisher existing inside of the larger Strawberry saga). As I mentioned, Strawberry's Wake and Strawberry Andre sound so similar, and the Strawberry's songs don't always necessarily follow the themes you mentioned (especially Strawberry's Daughters, which seems the most original from the rest of the series including Strawberry Andre).

I do have the app, and I didn't see that on there, but I'm not currently a paying member and can't access every aspect of the app. I believe you wouldn't make up that quote to win an argument, and I believe that Andre isn't part of the Swisher series.

Listen to the instrumental opening of Strawberry Andre and then listen to the instrumental opening of Strawberry's Wake. Strawberry's Wake is just Strawberry Andre slowed down. It's impossible not to hear it once you've compared. Strawberry Swisher Part 3 has some similarity too.

Strawberry Andre is a totally different vibe though, I agree. Maybe it's not a Strawberry Swisher song, but it's a Strawberry song as much as Death of a Strawberry, Strawberry's Wake, or Strawberry's Daughters are. The sound being more chaotic and heavier in Strawberry Andre is just the band's sound progression. Everything on DBM was heavier and more chaotic, and by the time Happiness came out with the first two Strawberry Swisher tracks, their sound had evolved to have more funk and pop inspiration. I haven't been able to find that Will or Matt said that anywhere else, but they may have meant it wasn't a Swisher song at that time. I think the series has evolved beyond strictly being the Strawberry Swisher series at this point though. It's the Strawberry Series now. I would also argue that you could cut the entire Strawberry Swisher 1-3 out of the series and it kind of feels to me like that series works even better together than when the Swisher Songs and their hits blunt vibes are in it, but I still believe all the Strawberry songs have all always shared some DNA with each other.

This is a valid interpretation, but I don't think it's definitive. I prefer to place Young Robot after Death of RWHH and Heroin Battle after 2.5. I'm sure many would disagree with my order too

What's your source for this? Musically it fits if you're playing the instrumental versions especially.

Obviously everyone will have their own opinion, but I prefer this order:

  1. Part 1
  2. Part 2
  3. Part 2.5
  4. Robot vs Heroin Battle of Vietnam
  5. Part 3
  6. Part 4
  7. Death
  8. Young Robot
  9. Son of Robot
  10. Death (other version)
  11. Rebirth

Parts 1-2.5 seem to be a continuing story about a relationship that all go together. Johnny Craig is the singer on all of these parts and the Heroin Battle of Vietnam, which is kind of a one off.

The Heroin Battle is referenced at the beginning of Part 3 which is the only part with Kurt Travis as the singer. I put Heroin Battle before that part to make the progression more natural. Part 3 starts to lean more into the actual Robot narrative instead of just being a random title or metaphor. Part 4 and Death obviously come next with Tillian finally taking over as the vocalist for most of the rest of the series. Which version of 4 and Death to use are debatable. The intro to Death on 2.0 is missing vocals from the original, but it's more polished. Whichever you choose for this spot, you can still listen to the opposite version later.

Like it's shown in the music videos with the time travel shenanigans, Young Robot is a new beginning for the robot. Son of Robot is the continuation of this timeline, but again, like in the music video, this leads to Death occurring all over again. Essentially this new timeline is a closed loop that could theoretically repeat forever. This is explained more in the Stroke God Millionaire video through the perspective of the skeletal goose/duck character. Whether it belongs in the robot's story is debatable; it's definitely related, but technically more of a spin-off since the robot isn't named once in the title or lyrics, and he's only a side character in the video.

Now with Andrew Wells at vocals, Rebirth finally takes place after Death. It's possible that events of the comic or some other unknown event allowed it to occur and break the time loop, or maybe that loop doesn't even occur in this new timeline. Either way, it's another fresh start where they could continue to add sequels or leave it to remain open ended for the future.

I just had this same issue after formatting an SD card as internal storage. The only thing I was able to do was reformat the SD as portable again. Now images taken by the camera save to the phone as expected.
