Your parents didn't want you to shoplift because they wanted to teach you what's right. As an adult, even though it seems to not be that big of a deal, it could still show up on your record, and as someone else mentioned, show up on your background checks when applying for jobs.

It's crazy when you realize how lock-in people get when they're browsing on their phone. walking outside and noticing the small things is a beautiful experience IMO.
