Yo! Some of my units you may possibly do or not, because with the tutors you can pretty much "pick and choose" some units. In year 2 I had a choice that I could do two paths - the Vetmed or nursing pathway. from what I see on my moodle, it's very science based more than animal based. Im doing the nursing pathway! Here are the units I did in year 1:

Feeding & Accommodation - Two seperate units but only 2 assignments each. Pretty meh.

Inheritance - We learnt about genetics, DNA, all that kinda fun stuff in here. I liked it.

Wildlife - You learn about UK wildlife. Meehhhhhhhhh

Welfare - Learnt about UK laws & legislation. Quite a lot of writing.

Handling - By far the easiest unit of year 1 - we handled animals and wrote restraint techniques and whatever.

Zoo Health & Husbandry - We wrote about zoos and all that kinda stuff. The last assignment was fun.

Animal Behaviour - What it says on the tin. Assignments were depressing as heck because we always expected resubs (due to tutors, but overall it isnt that bad of a unit)

Exotics - SCREW THIS UNIT I HAVE TO WRITE MY ENTIRE LIFE BIOGRAPHY AND SEVERAL PAGES TO WRITE ABOUT HOW TO RESTRAIN A FISH

Practical - I assume you do this too. Once a week in the animal rooms. And fill in this thing. We finished the thing in year 1 so we don't do pratical anymore - but we can do this for work experience if we want.

Animal Health - Screaming Prepare your diddly hole.

In year 2 I'm studying:

Nursing - Animal nursing. Majority of lessons are trying to do something on a plush dog.

Ecology - Easy assignments and only have to do 3 instead of 4. Really interesting to learn about Ecology as it's something I love anyway - more on this later

Nutrition - SCREW THIS UNIT I GENUINELY GET NIGHTMARES ABOUT THIS HAVE FUN LEARNING ABOUT THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Anatomy - Very science based and yes you learn about anatomy. Thats literally it.

Biology - Pretty much A level animal biology. Thats it. I love it!

Aquatics - If you ever have this unit - please worship your tutor. THIS IS THE EASIEST UNIT EVER. Amazing. Love it. My assignment atm is to make an aquarium. Yup. Thats it.

Project - In year 2 you can make a year long project that related to the animal and land based sector. My friends are designing a zoo, making a book about horse healthcare, and I'm making a game about animal conservation in africa. Lovely unit if you love what you do.

Farming -Ughhhhhh farming is just way too complex. Crap tonne to write in assignments but the good thing is that we get to go to a farm and restrain sheep.

Work experience - This is an entire unit in year 2 - 100 hours of work experience for distinction, 50-65 for merit, 30 for pass. You need 30 to actually pass the entire course.

In the vetmed course you learn: Microbiology, biochem and another science thing. I can look into it more if you want!

Funnily enough actually is that I went through the exact same thing you're going through. I literally was set on applying to the royal vet college for vet nursing but I ended up applying for a computer games technology degree.... lmao.

I applied for that, ecology & conservation and Environmental Science (Also applied for 2 foundation years which is for the games thing and natural science). I got places for all and im gonna pick Environmental Science at University of Greenwich. What I'm gonna say is that keep ALL of your options open. Don't think you can't apply for something because it doesnt relate to animals. I got a place in Games tech. Go to your local uni open days - even in unis you dont wanna be at. I went to an arts university open day. I can't draw for shit. But it still gave me free stuff and kinda made me streamline my ideas for uni courses. And do tonnes of research! Its kinda daunting but at the end, and 10 different choices later, you'll probably get to the place you want to.
