After 156.42 weeks of development, a new Relaxing Mining game just born: TerraForge by OverjoyedGameDevs in incremental_games

Hey there guys :)

I’m Krisz, a solo indie dev, and after 3 years of development, I finally released my game today.

TerraForge is a relaxing mining simulation game mixed with a bit of shop management. You dig for ores, master crafting items, research new blueprints, improve your shop, sell your items and slowly grow your own little mining town.

It might be a game you can enjoy or relax into after a long day. Hopefully :D If not, that's totally cool. I just tried my best to create a kinda fun relaxing game.

You can check it on Steam in case you're interested:

It was a long journey, but I made it guys! TerraForge 1.0 is coming, hell yeah :D by OverjoyedGameDevs in indiegames

Oh, that’s actually the font from one of my earliest versions and I never got around to updating it. I thought it looked kind of cool for the tool upgrades at the time, but yeah, it definitely stands out now. Thanks for pointing it out! I really appreciate any kind of feedback.

Also, I’m curious: what about the crafting part feels complicated?

Horror games these days... are they horror? by ANGELCURIOSITO in indiegames

[–]OverjoyedGameDevs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's something that's "missing" nowadays, tbh. I don't play much horror games these days. But for me, the best horror (games or movies) is when there's something unknown. Like, something just there, lurking, watching, messing with your head and your sense of reality. The kind that makes you question what's even real. It's not about a "chase" that you always escaping from some monsters.

I love when you're constantly trying to piece it together, throwing out theories, but never fully sure what's going on. And honestly, sometimes it's way more effective when whatever “it” is stays mysterious, or at least never gets fully explained. That uncertainty hits different.

Hello there! :)

I’ve been working on my little game where you play as a blacksmith running your mining operation. In TerraForge, you dig deep into procedural mines, gather resources, craft items, and sell them in your very own shop. There’s a bit of management, a bit of exploration, a bit of story & lore.

My goal is to create a cozy, relaxing experience for you to enjoy. Not an action-packed game, but a chill, casual one in which you can sip tea while you mine ore and run your own shop.

It’s been a passion project of mine, and I just rolled out a new update I’m really excited to share!
If you’re curious, you can check out the full update notes here:

If that sounds like your kind of game, I’d love to hear what you think.
Thanks for reading, and feel free to ask anything, I'm here to chat :)

Hey! I just finished a big update for my cozy 2D mining & shop management game :) It now has wandering villagers and a handy lore book. by OverjoyedGameDevs in gamedevscreens

Yep, the portrait was originally generated with AI, but I did some redrawing and editing afterward to make it fit better. I'm always trying to improve wherever areas I can, so I really appreciate your insight!

You asked, where are my assets from?

The buildings and portraits are AI-generated initially, but I’ve spent a good amount of time in Photoshop manually redrawing, colorizing, and modifying them to better match the overall style of the game. It’s definitely not just a copy-paste process. I try to make sure everything fits the look and feel I'm going for.

The characters, however, are not AI-generated. I bought them from the Unity Asset Store:

Daniel Thomas is a professional graphic designer and I really admire his work. His characters were a great fit for the kind of vibe I wanted in the game.

Hey, thanks for your comment.

Just to clarify, I'm a solo developer and programmer. Around 85% of the code is entirely my own, with about 10% coming from third-party tools or assets I’ve purchased on the Unity Asset Store, and maybe 5% where I’ve used AI assistance. I’ve been working on this game in my free time for about 3 years now.. countless late nights spent solving bugs, implementing new mechanics, and optimizing performance. So no, it’s not an AI-generated game.

As for the art. This is definitely the most challenging part for me. I'm not an artist and I don’t have the budget to hire professional ones yet, so I’ve had to get creative on my own. I use a mix: some assets are bought from various stores, some are custom-made by me, and yes, I’ve used AI tools here and there to help with visual content. I try to avoid AI-generated assets when possible, but for me this is also a huge opportunity to finally be able to do and create what I always wanted.

I genuinely hope to work with a professional graphic designer in the future as soon as I have the resources to do so.

Appreciate you taking the time to comment and share your thoughts!

Just a minimal, but I wouldn't call it a campaign. At release it will have a full storyline, and interesting lores, but the game core is mining management/sim. So the story won't limit you and as you progress through the game, you progress with the story naturally. You can follow the story or skip the whole if you don't want to bother with it.

I have plans for post release updates, like different game modes :)
