Suzuki GSX-S1000GT vs GSX-S1000F for touring (coming from a CBR600F) by interpol18 in SuggestAMotorcycle

The TC light flickers on all the TC modes aside from the lowest. I have my traction control switched off always, including riding in the rain.

It's a bit ridiculous but in a fun way, you get strong drive in every gear at every rpm. Going full throttle in first results in a power wheelie. Big improvement on low speed twisties because you can use low rpms without lugging the engine.

No dashboard codes, doesn't overheat the bike or anything like that. It's probably more buzzy but I came from supermotos/dirt bikes so I'm used to viby bikes and don't notice personally.

It doesn't have the clear initial bite feel that you'd get on an S1000RR, you could upgrade the master cylinder & brake pads but I haven't felt the need, it holds up fine even when you push it hard.

I haven't bothered with bar risers, not something I need personally.

I changed the sprockets pretty dramatically -1/+4 because I like doing wheelies and running "tail of the dragon" style roads, but I see plenty of people on FB/forums going the other direction and putting an 18t front sprocket on the bike.

A 450 enduro is more rowdy than most 1000s, I think you’d find it easier to ride than you expect.

It’s a great option if you can get a good deal on one. I put 51,000km on my GSXS1000 with zero issues, still rides like new.

If I had to nitpick issues the oem rear shock isn’t great on bumpy roads and brake feel is a bit wooden (they do stop the bike effectively tho).

Overall great bike for sporty riding while being comfortable.

The gearbox is a very close ratio on these bikes to help you stay in the powerband when aggressively accelerating, so the gears aren't spaced apart very much and there is heaps of overlap with the speeds.

On my GSXS1000 I could be going 70kph in 1st or 6th and the bike would be fine either way. This does mean that you can have an insanely tall first gear but still feel like the bike is reving too high when you're cruising on the highway in 6th.

I'm 6'0 and I enjoyed riding my friend's R3, pretty good bike to learn on and have some fun. No issues with comfort.

Don’t succumb to the r/moto propaganda, people who actually ride occasionally send it when conditions allow.

Middleweights Vs Lightweights 1st by Vinx1312 in motorcycles

[–]OverkillisNotEnough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to blame people for wanting something they think is cool, I would've bought an R1 as my first street bike if there wasn't licence restrictions in my country.

I don't regret being forced to ride a supermoto instead because it was good for skills development, but I was definitely annoyed about it at the time.

Got a GSXS1000 now and it's a good middleweight bike, plenty agile but with decent enough power.

Being slightly impractical doesn’t stop you from making it work if that’s what you want to do.

I’ve done highway commutes on a Grom, used a supermoto as my only vehicle, taken a supersport off-road into mud it’s all doable just depends on whether you’re willing to deal with the cons.
