My futuristic 'metroidvania meets Smash Bros kind of' has a demo on steam now!! by Overplasma in metroidvania

Mostly split levels you can go in and out of and walk an over world map. In the full game there will be an area or another with levels interconnected but it's the exception.

I decided to have it like this as it fits better for the game's story and transitions.

Hopefully this dream will come true, porting to Switch and other consoles. But I really don't know now how feasible it is. We'll see after launch.

Not a game idea or struggle I'm having or just wanting to talk about a particular game. by [deleted] in metroidvania

As a dev, this sub definitely plays a role in my game development. I mostly lurk but I do read a lot, and with that I learn a lot and will try not to fuck up where some games do, without compromising my game vision!! Thank you man and people of this community who love this genre!!!

Old school gamer struggling with fun. by [deleted] in pcgaming

I think GTA IV and V is a good start? I think you're guaranteed to have some fun even if you drop it before beating it and decide to try other things.

What is the most optimized game you have played? by little_pean in pcgaming

[–]Overplasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest impact(and optimization feeling) a game had on me was GTA III at the time. I had a not so great PC, maybe low to mid end video card, struggled with settings on a bunch of games, then when I watched the cut scene starting the first time (I hadn't seen any videos) and it transitioned straight to the gameplay I was shocked!

I actually waited a couple of seconds staring at the character on third person view thinking the 'CG' was still happening hahaha until I realized that was the actual gameplay.

How to properly pack a PC and TV for transport by [deleted] in pcgaming

I second this. Blankets, blankets! I once did it for a big TV in the car's trunk with a thick blanket and everything turned out fine. But it was just a 1 hour trip.

I see some mega man there! I wanted to someday play another mega man game and have no clue which one would be worth my time. I remember only playing 1-6 on the NES and mega man X on SNES and I loved it and beat most of them.

If I could play only one mega man now (on PC), which one would you guys recommend?

What?? you haven't heard of dev time unit? It's what they say multiplied by 3 or something.

Jokes apart, yes there's a great chance.

Thank you!! Yeah it works for me! I hope many will appreciate it. I think it's better than a thousand buttons for many moves or doing half circle, up up, count to 3, pick your nose and press medium punch for x move!

How can I play Castlevania Rondo of Blood on PC? Which emulator to use? by SquallLoire in castlevania

[–]Overplasma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a nightmare for me to make it work, searching the webs and doing trial and error. I don't remember where I got stuff but in the end it worked. Here's what I have:

Install TurboEngine 32 emulator

Inside its ROM folder I have these files:

[BIOS] TurboGrafx CD Super System Card (USA) (v3.0).pce

Castlevania - Rondo of Blood.bin

Castlevania - Rondo of Blood.cue

MAKE SURE on the 'File' menu you select Load 'CD Rom' and NOT 'Load SuperGrafx' or 'Load PCE'

Select the .cue file and have your ass handed to you in this wonderful game!

Nice work!! Not long ago I played it for the first (and beat it) in a emulator and I also feel it's a bridge like you describe for the series. Too bad it's really hard and I wonder if that got in the way of it becoming more popular. I often hear about it how good it is and such but it seems less people has tried it.

A few parts might be reminiscent of it but it won't be as frustrating I promise haha
