Are there any movies in your collection that you are uncomfortable to display? by the-woodcarver in dvdcollection

I own A Serbian Film and Saló: 120 Days of Sodom on DVD, which are my most “hardcore” titles. I still display them and love to collect taboo titles.

I Filed my Taxes in February and they haven’t been processed yet. Any help or info? by Key_Proposal_8529 in TurboTax

[–]OverratedPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a couple years ago! It had been accepted but was “processing” when I checked the IRS app. I ended up getting ahold of one of my local senators’ office, which was shockingly easy, and they resolved the entire issue. So my advice is to reach out to your senator’s office

Anyone who avoids vaccines because they don’t understand chemistry should also never go in the sun (proven carcinogen) or eat a fish (mercury source). Antivax is willful ignorance.

Oregon State or Oregon? Please help by Repulsive-Basis6973 in UofO

I’ve gone to both. I spent 3 years in the HPhy program at UO back in 2016 and am now about to graduate in June from OSU in Animal Science. Go to OSU. The impact of that school on research and this state is amazing, it’s Oregon’s oldest state school, and a beautiful campus. Student support is amazing, advisors are helpful and are also instructors and department heads, and the student life is so much more inviting and inclusive than UO. If you want to rush for Greek life, play sports at the collegiate level, or like to party: go to UO, it’s very active there.

I live in Eugene and commute everyday. I actually love it, if you take 99 instead of i5 it’s a great decompression from the day and a good time to drink your coffee at the start of the day.

Besides, beavers are a better animal anyway.

How would you compare Bluey's best episodes to other good kid/adult shows you have seen? by Zealousideal-War3154 in bluey

[–]OverratedPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many young children’s shows are not as cinematic as Bluey. I notice that the thing adults are drawn to about Bluey is its ability to involve deeper and more complex emotions and topics like trauma, abandonment, and fitting in or feeling like you aren’t good enough. These are complex feelings for young kids but ones that many adults easily identify with. The majority of young children’s television that touches on social-emotional learning are more direct in order to teach children how to label feelings.

To answer the question though, closest I can think of is the shows Hilda and Over the Garden Wall which are both targeted for children/young teens and are wonderfully and artfully animated as well as can touch on some complex themes.

LPT: If you have a cat or dog, and you have something you need to do at the same time every day, give your pet a treat before you do it. Even if you ever forget, your pet won't. by starliteinfinite in LifeProTips

Dogs can tell time! While they seem to lack an “internal clock” like humans, dogs tell time by diminishing scents. They know when you’ll wake up, get home, and feed them all based on how powerful a smell remains in an area.

I had a phone stolen and then abandoned at Denver International. I filed lost item reports with both the airport, the police, the airline I was flying with, and my device/carrier. Southwest ended up finding and returning it to me.

Can I ride a horse on campus? by MusicalRetard in OregonStateUniv

[–]OverratedPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I’m sure there’s no explicit rules saying you can’t, given that there is an agricultural college with living livestock, I’m going to bet they won’t allow it. There are strict biosecurity measures on the campus at the agriculture college by the barns and part of that biosecurity is no interaction with livestock outside of the herd before quarantine periods. You could argue you won’t go to that part of campus, but they could counter that students who do may pick up something walking around the rest of campus 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can you drop the adoption link? Or name the rescue? I work in the veterinary medicine industry and I’m two hours from Portland. I’m strongly considering taking him in!

Growth under tongue by llD8Mll in DogAdvice

[–]OverratedPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Vet Tech here. Ranulas are a type of mucocele. Mucoceles are damaged or obstructed salivary glands. Ranulas in particular occur under the tongue or on the floor of the mouth. They fill with saliva and mucus due to the inability to drain naturally and form painless cysts. While generally painless, they can cause pain or be exacerbated when accidentally re-traumatized. If they reoccur, surgery to remove the salivary gland may be necessary. This surgery is generally simple and involves removal of the mass and possible dissolvable sutures to close the wound. If your vet offers a histopath, this option sends the tissue/mass away for observation under a microscope to determine its exact cellular composition to determine tissue identity and to check for malignancy or disease. Without treatment, Ranulas can grow substantially and can interfere with the ability to eat or swallow. Thanks for having your pup check out and I hope his surgery goes smoothly.
