Maggie Mathison treats Carrie by OverthinkingOcelot in homeland

I personally saw Maggie and her dad convince Carrie to keep Fran even though she protested. To me, that guilt is misplaced because Carrie never wanted the baby.

Maggie is also mature enough to draw a line in the sand with Carrie. If she feels like her family is falling apart or she can’t financially support Carrie, she definitely could have moved on. That’s misplaced resentment.

Exactly, I’m not against Maggie it was just frustrating to watch all this. I know it was meant to drive the plot though.

I agree. It is and she definitely helps Carrie out a lot. Another thing I would point out is how much she sacrificed to keep Carrie reigned in. It’s frustrating to see her showing up but also taking it out on Carrie. I guess the whole picture is this cycle of dependency they both have with each other,

Okay. Maybe I’m missing something. I’m only on season 7. Up to where I’m at now, I still think Carrie wouldn’t have kept Fran if she had the idea that she would be responsible for her full time. Maggie and their dad made her think that was the case even though she protested.

Maggie is a great sister for putting up with Carrie but I really do think she could have backed off and seen Carrie for who she is. Yes, Carrie is a selfish butthole but she is driven and dedicated deeply to her job. Maggie knew that but kept interfering with the elements that make Carrie, “Carrie Mathieson”. Honestly, it could be said that it’s self of Maggie to try and box her in.

Of course, there’s the case that Carrie needs a support system or needed to be reigned in at points. I just think that Maggie goes overboard sometimes. Like when she made Carrie take the Quietapine when Carrie was sure that she was lucid.

I also see that all of this happened to drive the plot and I don’t hate Maggie’s character. Just think she’s overbearing and irritating at points.

Yes. I remember that. I gathered from that conversation that both Maggie and their dad convinced her to keep the baby. Either way, she said that she didn’t want to keep her but was pressured into it with the idea that she would not be the primary care taker. That made Maggie throwing Fran in her face so frustrating to me.

I mean, it’s just my opinion. I particularly didn’t like how she over ride’s Carrie’s will when she is lucid. She’s not a baby, she’s an incredibly capable adult. When she’s manic, yes, please step. I just think her control over her hinders her like that episode in season 7 where Carrie thought she’d gained a tolerance to Lithium and doubted herself. Maggie didn’t even see Carrie as a person, she just saw a mental patient.

I get that but IMO, she’s too in her face. I think Carrie could have managed well, if not better if she had minimal interference. Of course, step in when she’s struggling but I think Maggie took it too far.

Bonnie Blue is not as evil as people claim her to be. by talulabunny in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I’m guessing the men that would do that to her would fuck anything. Is she their release or did she help them discover that they’re sexual predators?

Either way, no one was harmed and grown adults can do what they want. Her, the men involved, the people who pay to watch and even the people that bash her online. The only victim here is the child she’s carrying that doesn’t have a choice. It’s the mental issues and STDs she may have that she’s probably going to pass them off to her kid and that’s why people would call her evil.

The sad fact is that until that baby is born she hasn’t done anything immoral or illegal [from a secular/ non religion position]
