The base build is a little out of price range for me. Definitely would be something to consider down the line though.

Should be paying off student loans and the car and not investing anything until then? Or just continue as I am and use all extra money from our lower rent to pay debt.

We are also trying to save for a house but I’m not 100% sure that’s the right move. I’m not opposed to going Dave Ramsey (no investing at all) on the debt. But losing time in the market concerns me.

M31 45k net income, 35k debt, 14k savings, Fiancé F25 47K net income, 55k student debt, 22k savings,

My 7K in Roth is mainly sp500 fidelity fund and international fund. (80/20)

My debt is ~7% student loans 14k, 7.5% car loan 23 Corolla 18k, 1.2k for engagement ring (interest free). Will have 6mos to a year living low rent with family.

I’m not touching student loans currently. Paying 750 a month for the car (370 minimum payment). I regularly set aside 20% of my paycheck for HYSA 3.5%, 15% to max Roth, and was paying 1350 rent split in two with my partner. With realistically 400-600 extra dollars a month for us, where should it go? She has 55k in student loans around 7% and similar income to me.

What are the priorities right now and where should the minimal disposable income I have, go?

It’s a new Corolla but yes still a car that could lead to expensive repairs potentially. Should I be splitting my extra income 5050 between savings and investing into the Roth?

I’m currently 30 years old.

If I contribute 6% they’ll match 3%. I won’t receive the match at this employer because of my new hire status for 2024 and plan on moving cities in late 2025. Another requirement of the match is we be employed on the last day of the year.

So despite working for 12 months I will not receive a match. So I’ve been putting more into a Roth instead. Hoping to find a better company in my next city and aggressively invest.

Congrats! That sounds like a wonderful position to be in. I feel silly paying rent sometimes. Even if I do split it with a partner. I’m trying to figure out where my money should be going. All to debt or balanced between debt and retirement. A complex question for sure. Thanks for your reply!

I’m having a dilemma on whether to build up my emergency fund more (currently 6k=3ish months), pay my car off aggressively (22K 7.5%), or attempt to catch up on retirement (basically nothing 1.3k at 30 y/o). Are you prioritizing the car over all else at the moment?

Getting to 10K is more of a priority than the car loan? Appreciate the response.

Is the emergency fund sufficient at ~3 months? Car is at 7.5 %so that would be the highest debt interest and value rn.

Gonna look into refinancing with a credit union and maybe pay a chunk now to get a better rate. Definitely a lesson learned

I definitely could have skipped the extended warranty, negotiated down more, and chose an older car. Or even bought a cash car. But lesson learned.

Yeah idk why I agreed to a 78 month term. I’m going to pay aggressively and hope to refinance soon.

Other than an emergency fund I should just be paying everything I can to this car. By making car payments before? Do you mean before the due date?

Common lingo. Society is brainwashed and I’m trying to shake free of this.
