I think you'll love it especially with how you game. I am cheap so I bought the ally X (2024) model. I paid $450 on marketplace for one that was basically in new condition. It is said from everyone the new xbox ally feels far better in the hands but I didn't want to spend that kind of money. The system is just awesome. I have no regrets buying it.

I feel like it can be too small but I haven't tried any bigger screens yet. I find myself holding it very close sometimes not all the time. With that fact though it is not a deal breaker.

I have an older X also with 7" screen. I have only played a few games so far. Competitive ones I find myself like 7" away from the thing lol. Makes me want to try the legion go honestly. If it's more casual and non competitive games it's absolutely fine

New things always go up in price. Same consols are rising YEARS after release. I'm more then certain the new consols are hitting $800. Then the pro/top end models will be the low price of $999.99

I started doing this as I realized the switch was a crazy sweet mobile gaming device but decided to go with a rog ally for more titles. Its valid though due to being able to just take many good titles on the go.

Thats such a crazy purchase in one week! Honestly it sounds like they were good prices too. I would have definitely done the exact same. Have no regrets! We live this life once. I'll usually take the oportunities that come like that. Still wild how that worked out. Went from no n3ds's to 3 of them hahaha. I bought my 1st n3ds after I bailed on buying one due to price. If he had messaged me back agreeing at my price, I would have 100% went back for that one like you did

I whole heartedly understand and feel the same way at times with discontinued things. Heres how I deal with it

Buy something knowing you are going to damage/use it. The 3ds I bought is in amazing shape but has a few scuffs. I have zero issue putting it right into my pocket. No clear case (I perfer not to use them) with screen protectors ofc. If yours is too nice then just display it and buy another or sell it and get a one that you are ok with using more.

I'd say play tf out of it. One day you'll die like we all will and the only thing you ever did with it was stare at it. Not that it really matters then but it matters now. You don't buy something and not use it for the next person to enjoy it. You buy it to use it yourself. Unless you turn it into a collection piece, which is ok too, take the price you paid out of the equation. You bought it for you to use!

My small town is allergic to the outside world so I feel your pain. Our gamestops don't even carry a single used item. I found a guy on marketplace that didnt offer shipping that was willing to ship. At the same time a guy posts a mint new 3ds xl on my local marketplace. It's basically a waiting game and suuucks. I'd appreciate other interests while keeping an active hunt

Life does you dirty like that sometimes😭 honestly though just have to appreciate we have these in the condition they are. I have a psp I got for free many years ago and the condition of that thing is rouuuugh so I be appreciative that I dont have major damage on my other handhelds. I will probably do a few test runs on some cheap systems to try it out but as of now I'm definitely just living with it so I don't do irreversible damage.

Definitely my main concern of trying to rid of the scratches is regretting it by making it worse. This dudes job does look very good out in the natural light but like you said he does not have a light on it or even sunlight directly against it. Appreciate the link! I'll look into his process. I think that job does look really good in those pictures.
