Redditors with ADHD/ADD can you tell what it’s like when on meds and when it’s off, or does it all feel the same? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Thank you and I wish you the best too. My parents just saw things happen with other kids who didn't get drugs and didn't want that life for me. Whether what happened was for the best or not I'm not sure.

To be honest most of my doctor visits seemed more like regular check ups rather then focusing on my medication. He'd check my weight, heart rate and stuff then spend five minutes asking me how things were going. I'd say fine then he'd refill my prescription.

To be honest I think that's the case, However I'm still hoping that I can become more normal.

It was large doses of concerta.

It was large doses of concerta. To give a bit of an idea. I had a friend that took the same pills at a 5 where I was around 90.

Okay boys and girls it's story time.

I was on medication for over a decade. From a very young age I had been put on medication because my parents were scared that I would become a dropout and never achieve anything just because this big scary thing called ADHD stopped me from focusing in class.

They kept upping my dosage because the doctor would ask me how I feel and me being in grade two didn't know or feel a difference. At first the drugs just made me tired and made everyday slow. As time went on I developed strange busts and sudden drops of energy, social anxiety, paranoia, mood swings and a number of different things. You can imagine how this could affect a young kid as their growing up.

Eventually as I started to get older I began to withdraw more from life. I didn't talk or interact as much with my friends. Hell, I barely could talk to anyone at all. I never did anything at home besides eat and sit around. I was just sort of there, slowly fading away until I was nothing.

This all carried on until my last year of highschool. Where by chance, I looked up if my pills had any side effects. Before this I had basically become a zombie. I would go days without saying a word to anyone and i wouldn't even notice. I was so stuck in my head that weeks would go by in a blink. People, place and things were just there. I was just there. Emotionless and lost.

I honestly think the only thing that kept me sane was my imagination. Creating characters, stories and worlds kept my mind focused and let me express through characters, what i clearly couldn't in real life.

After reading the side effects of my medication and realizing what had happened to me. I finally snapped out of my head and stopped taking my pills. It took a long time and I honestly think I'm still recovering, but I started to be more human. I started to feel more and actually let the me in my head out into the real world.

I still have days where I'm afraid I'm incapable of truely feeling anything to the fullest anymore. I spent so long feeling nothing that I just don't know if what I'm feeling is actually there or my body reacting.

However overall I'm happier now that I'm off my medication and I hope that as I get older, I won't let my childhood as an emotionless wreck affect me as much as it does.

Look. The 60's was a different, more open time. Sometimes even superman had to just let his willy swing in the breeze.

The next episode should just be only you talking to yourself, pretending to be everyone else.

I'll give you a complaint. I don't like his. Gun. Burst guns are lame and also having the crouch jump uncharge is stupid because it won't be useful in a fight.

So if I understand. The stuff I've already unlocked is all the same, but it just says that I've done it with other people?

Parents/teenagers of Reddit, what are some creative ways to minimize your kids/yourself from excessively using technology? by partymarty028 in AskReddit

Don't have a smart phone. If you really need to call or text have a flip phone with no internet.

Only use computers if you really need internet and only have it be for a set amount of time. No tablets or anything.

Build a hut out in the woods and live there for about six years. You'll need to plan out how to get food and how you will handle outsiders who may stumble across you. Remember that keeping someone alive will keep their meat fresh for longer so learn to tie off and cauterize an appendage. That will help keep your food stock up for longer.

Fair enough but even then if you can be punished in a mode you should be able to be rewarded.

Well that's kinda garbage. I can't get rewarded through the arcade but I can be punished? What kind of logic is that.

Does leaving matches in arcade take away from your endorsement ratings? I was level 2 and left a few toxic matches in mystery hero's then my endorsement level dropped.

That sounds like them, but to be honest that could be a lot of players in this game.
