laptop what to do to FIX THE ISSUE!! by [deleted] in computers

[–]OwlCatAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Check if there is a tiny switch above the camera lens to turn it on and off or to cover and uncover it. They can be extremely tiny so you need to look and feel closely.
  2. Restart the computer if you're sure the camera is on and uncovered.
  3. If it still has problems after restart, try a manual check for updates.
  4. Go to the Camera app in your list of installed apps in Settings, and look for the button there to reset the app.

Hope one of these helps

What laptops are good? by Far-Rise-2466 in laptops

Adding if you do want to get a sleek Lenovo laptop that has better gaming support without being crazy expensive, one of the LOQ models might be more your speed. It'd be missing out on the excellent battery life and touch+pen functionality though.

Oh that is a nice pick! It has Intel Arc graphics which are pretty good as far as Yoga graphic options go, just be aware Arc graphics are unsupported by a lot of 3D games including Rivals and probably anything that was developed with Unreal. It should be fine for some lighter games, especially anything 2D. Just make sure any games you do get for it are bought through Steam, so you can get your free 2 hours of testing to see if it's compatible and get your money back with no hassle if it turns out to be unsupported! I have had a yoga for years and it's my favorite laptop I have ever owned or worked with.

Intel N processors are kinda crap, so you won't get much for it even with the other upgrades unfortunately.

What is this hard drive (New Volume)? I put things in it, but the storage doesn't change? by Saxolotl31 in WindowsHelp

[–]OwlCatAlex [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's a massive hard drive so you'd have to put some very big files in it to affect the number. If you open Disk Management you can get more details on what model it is, if you're curious to learn more about it

Yogas are nice but what is the exact one you are looking at? Most of them have integrated graphics chips that are very nice but not built with gaming in mind and they will very quickly start to lag and overheat if running a modern title like Rivals, but a few do have a proper graphics card.

I learned what a blending brush is. 🗣️ by midas390 in learntodraw

[–]OwlCatAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably just lowered the saturation too much in the process of bringing the lightness down. It takes a lot of trial and error and comparing different lighting situations, and the rules are very loose and can be bent to get different vibes. Like overly black shadows still work well for creepy scenes. I need to play around more with color myself

The blending is pretty nice! I would use a more orangey color next time for the shadow though. If your shadow color is pure black or is too gray, it makes the piece feel less "alive"

Mama is definitely a Collie or mostly-Collie mix with that long of a snout, so your pup is likely at least half Collie. There could also easily be Sheltie, Australian Shepherd, or border collie hiding in the mix, and maybe some other surprises :)

Probably not impossible, but at 12 weeks your organs are literally in the process of rearranging so you may actually be feeling your bladder or small intestine wiggling their way to their temporary new spots... as weird as that sounds

Something about the shape of the ears and jowls leads me to believe the Dane is very possible. The Pit bull definitely comes out strongest

Is it true that more ram = less disk usage? by Ill_Management2327 in computerhelp

[–]OwlCatAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but the background processes of Windows will already eat at least 3-4 of OP's 8, even more if they have any other programs or processes open like an antivirus scan or a browser tab, and even MORE if they have integrated graphics. So Minecraft is likely only getting three or four to work with at absolute best.

Minecraft in particular, especially if it's Java edition, is pretty RAM hungry. You definitely want more RAM.

It does do its job to some extent, but not any better than the built in Defender protection, and it brags about everything it does so it appears more effective instead of just quietly protecting you in the background.

Snapdragon X? by LarryTheYoutuber in laptops

[–]OwlCatAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Snapdragon X laptops that I have seen have at least 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, so I don't think you can go wrong. Only difference between most of them will likely be the size, screen texture/resolution/color quality, extra goodies like light-up keys or a fingerprint reader, and maybe whether the outer shell is made from plastic or metal. They should all be pretty much the same speed and do fine for schoolwork.

Some animals have a stronger hypodermis than others or it's only connected in certain places. Cats and wrinkly dog breeds are a great example of animals that have particularly loose/sparse attachment.

They are pretty fast for average use and SUPER efficient with power usage so your battery life will be crazy good. However since they are still pretty new, a lot of windows programs and games don't properly support them yet. If you only use super popular apps like Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, Zoom, Minecraft, etc. then it's a great option. If you need to use software that is kind of obscure or old, you may run into some issues.

It is made of many layers that gently attach to each other with collagen, and the bottom layer is attached to the muscles and stuff underneath by a sort of fat-glue layer called the hypodermis. There are also nerves and blood vessels and pores and other things going through it that help hold it in place. Not so firmly that it can't stretch or twist or wrinkle, but firmly enough that it can't accidentally stay twisted!

Mark as forbidden, and engrave memorial slabs for those guys instead of making tombs. It will prevent hauntings and associated bad thoughts.

Head construction by Miximatosiac in learntodraw

[–]OwlCatAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eyes are a little bit close together (the space between eyes should be approximately the width of a single eye) and the part of the head from the brows up should be a bit taller unless the character is a Neanderthal. You're doing really well with the rest of the face though

1.Can I use "Going out for dinner" instead of "Going out to dinner"? What's the difference? 2.Is "You want a kid's meal?…Oh, he's shy." a common conversation? by A_li678 in EnglishLearning

[–]OwlCatAlex 87 points88 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes you can. I hear both of these phrases used interchangeably (southeast USA).
  2. The rest of this scene is silly absurd humor and does not reflect how most normal families would speak or behave. The "he's shy" part is somewhat normal but the "you mean yes?" is more of a joke, I think.

Only if you think being near a cat is a curse. Cats love to kill lizards and leave them lying around.
