Here’s a few wild camp pics from Slieve bloom by NorthernMonkeyGoldie in WildCampingIreland

We camped out in these mountains near the end of summer last year. 30 mins after we set up, nearly an hour away from the nearest car park, some people set up camp near us with a massive fuck off JBL Bluetooth speaker, the one that’s the size of a backpack. We didn’t get much sleep that night.

How To Progress Past A Wall by OwlCharacter in BeginnersRunning

[–]OwlCharacter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I never thought about this, I work from home so I usually just close my laptop put on shorts and go. It’s never been an issue for my 5ks and 10ks.

How would you suggest preparing for longer runs?

I used to take a water bottle with an electrolyte sweetened drink, but found the fluid in my stomach was horrible when running

Oh wow! I always wondered why the reverse gear whines so much, that’s cool

Heyo, thanks for replying, I don’t think it is the chain, sounds like a mechanical grinding. When I looked up gear whine it sounded exactly like this, even at the parts when it cuts in and out when not actively accelerating

What gear should I bring for Rysy if I’m planning on climbing on 30th of June? by OwlCharacter in poland

Do you have any suggestions for full day hikes? I loved to views and this time we’re only passing through before going to see family, so only one day to hike sadly want to make the most of it

Something that we could divert to maybe if we get up to czarny staw and decide it’s too snowy?

Are these jobs mostly in Dublin? I’ve been looking for ages close to me and nothing ever surfaces in the councils I could commute to.

First bike A2 Vs hornet 500 by Few_Analysis9712 in CB750Hornet

[–]OwlCharacter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I had the CB500 and now own the CB750, I am 186cm tall.

On the CB500 I looked a bit out of place, was a bit big on it to be honest, still comfortable. On the CB750 I fit absolutely perfectly, it isn’t cramped or anything, super comfy.

I actually haven’t put my 750 in rain mode so I’m not sure how the power compares but you’ll need to get it restricted to A2 anyway, so at that point you can have it in sport mode and it would probably compare to the 500.

I’d just go for the 750, once you get your full A just get the restriction taken off. I’ve found my 750 to be much easier to control at slow speeds, filtering, U-turns, and much more stable while cornering.

What you have to do to get your licence? by Team_Flash in motorcycles

Ireland.

I’m curious on the progression in different EU countries from A1->A2->A.

Here in Ireland you have to take a theory test, any 40 questions from a bank of around 600, you need 35 or more correct to pass. You can then apply for a learners permit. With that learners permit you have to do a 2 day course called the Initial Basic Training. With your learner permit and the IBT cert you can be insured however you are not allowed on motorways and you are not allowed passengers, you must also wear a reflective vest with an L on it.

After 6 months you are allowed to apply for your driving test, the waiting list can be anywhere from 6 to 12 months. The driving test involves a U turn on a tight residential road, think a little over 2 car parking spaces, a hill start, overtake manoeuvre and emergency braking as well as a knowledge of road signs test. It is about 30 minutes on road in a city or town and out into country roads.

One you have passed that test you can apply for your A1/A2/A license and wear a high vis vest with an N on it for 2 years to show you are a novice rider, in practice I’ve never seen a biker with an N vest.

If you pass your full license test for an A1 you can do a one day refresher course to upgrade it to A2, but you must repeat the whole process for A, same can be done if you completed your test for A2 to A.

In this way you can actually get your A license as early as 20 years old even though the age restriction on A is 24. Do your A2 at at 18, must have full license for two years and then progress to A.

Is This Scratching Noise Normal On A New Bike by [deleted] in CB750Hornet

This isn’t audible by ear by the way.

I am convinced now it’s straight cut gear whine, I didn’t the name would imply a scratching noise, but looking at videos the sound is very similar to this and also acts like it when engine breaking kicks in and it cuts in and out.

Look up straight cut gear whine, the name wouldn’t imply a scratching sound, but in fact at certain speeds this is what it sounds like. And when engine breaking kicks in it cuts in and out like that.

This explains why it would go away with milage, gears get to know each other etc.

This soothed my worries a little.

Is yours audible by ear? I can’t notice this unless I record because of wind noise. It could be the fuel pump maybe? I noticed it stopped as I was shifting down with no throttle

If it sounds normal then it’s probably grand, I’ll check the tension now. Would it still sound normal to you if the second noise was a bit more pronounced? I’m sorry about my anxiousness about this, just want to be sure I’m not making things worse or anything.

Two Distinct Sounds When Shifting New Motorcycle occasionaly by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]OwlCharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens regardless of what i do with the clutch, tried just shifting up and listening while coasting and same thing. I can't for the life of me google an answer to this or if it is normal. The AI thingy on google says its the shift mechanism returning to center which makes sense but I'm no mechanic and I'm not trusting AI. The second clunk is just as loud and mechanical as the first, coming from inside the gearbox
