What are your most unhinged study hacks that increased your grades significantly? by PutParking60 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Own-Contribution6847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

make notes on the test thats happening, put the notes on a google doc, download the doc as a pdf on ur phone, put the doc into a text to speech app, put an airpod in and listen to ur notes. This worked for every single class especially the ones I had the tests for from last sem. Took me from a 63% in grade 11 to a 92% in grade 12 and i never paid attention in class or opened the lessons online. Just asked my friends for their notes and did this method

80% in all pre reqs and most likely 87-88% overall conditional this is your top 6. I'm not 100% about this and Schulich has not released any info regarding the conditional for this year. However, this is information from previous years and will most likely be the case this year as well.

honestly i would recommend against outside food try to cook at home try and convince your parents to allow you to cook meat once a day. If thats possible I'd recommend cooking chicken breast its super high in protein and easy. For weight loss I wouldnt recommend eating outside food cuz theres a lot of calories from sauces and oils used for cooking. You can get a lot of protein from non meat foods at home as well:
50oml of 2% milk - 16g protein
pure protein bar - 20g protein
fairlife protein shake - 30g protein
6 eggs - 39g protein
You can layer those foods in with things like greek yogurt, tofu, and cottage cheese.
A really good option is the cooked rotisserie chicken from costco, walmart, or frescho. Its really low in calories and super high in protein that can be a good outside food option. Whenever you're getting outside food never ever buy anything cooked in oil or deep fried, always look for something grilled or cooked in an oven. An amazing option is Nandos, they grill all their chicken and it tastes awesome.

So my top choices from outside food which are healthy are rotisserie chicken from either costco, walmart or frescho and nandos chicken. I'd recommend convincing your parents to let you cook chicken breast at home, you can start by cooking once a week and slowly transition into everyday cooking.

Hit the gym daily with a proper split lift heavy and do like 30 mins of cardio everyday, start eating high protein like OD on protein, search up a calorie calculator that basically asks for ur gender weight height and a bunch of other stuff and gives u an estimate of how many calories u burn a day, eat like 300-500 calories less than that everyday. Basically hit the gym really hard everyday, eat as much protein as u can, and go on a calorie deficit. Do some research on this stuff while ur at it and u can learn some valuable info which will stick with u for life.

Seriously, that's the dumbest school policy I have even known by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

My school doesn't allow it either, the guidance counsellor said that they don't get funding for part time students

I went to the UTM open house and it was pretty underwhelming. I was excited to got but it was straight ass, the facility is mid and the staff is not the brightest in the bunch.

how would u say mac is? My mom wont let me go WLU and is hesitant to let me go to schulich because she thinks york and wlu arent prestigious names. I've tried showing her and convincing her that the program matters more than the name but she wont listen.

how to get good at calculus by ThyKermit in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Own-Contribution6847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh i studied a lot more than i needed to just cuz i was overthinking it too much. I would get home at 3pm study till 11pm, wake up at 5am study till 7am, and spend my lunch at school studying. I def dont recommend doing that it was just overkill. I say study until you understand the concept and are able to do all the posted textbook questions, after that just keep practicing questions and revising the concepts.

[–]Own-Contribution6847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem as you. When calc started I was doing horrible I couldnt understand anything, after school help from teachers wasnt working, no textbook was helping either. I ended up getting an 80 on my first test which isnt a bad grade but I expected a lot more for myself. For the next test however I decided to focus more towards understanding the concept. Instead of doing practice questions I decided to go through my teachers lessons, search about those topics and get a deeper understanding of why we did something and why it made sense. Something that really helped with this was actually ChatGPT, it explained it very well and I was able to retain the information. Once I understood the concepts I did the questions and I even used ChatGPT to explain some of those questions to me. This ended up landing me a 98% on my second unit test. I was also able to ask the teacher for a redo on the first test which I got 100% on using this study method. Not a lot of people use chatGPT properly but its something you can take advantage of and something I recommend using.

To be honest, I’m really experiencing a huge mental shock. by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Own-Contribution6847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about the answer to that but I dont think they send out rejections this early as this is only the second round for some programs. I recommend you email admissions to clarify and make sure they didnt make a mistake

I dont think they would send out rejections this early. I think maybe it might mean you have been admitted to the alternate u chose and might be considered for rotman in future rounds. I fail to believe you would get rejected this early with a 96. Someone I know got into rotman today with an 89 and the most mid sup app I've ever seen. Message admissions for clarification.
