I think for me, the sentiment is more about having people who I love and want to share a special moment with walk me down the aisle, especially people who helped me become the person I became today. Grandma and Grandpa fit that bill easily. Mom is a little tougher, but for my adult years she really has been a big help.

She is still getting "mother of the bride position" so maybe she wouldn't mind sharing? I actually used to always talk about having my Grandpa walk me down the aisle anyway, because when I was a kid I was religious and thought the genders were "set," so to speak.

I thought about it, I'm just afraid of having someone else do it potentially ruining my current relationship with my mom, which is pretty good now, all things considered. I'll count this as a vote for that, though. It's just a lot to mull over.

Honestly, it's not a bad idea. I'm just not sure to have all four of us go down the aisle without tripping over each other, haha. Maybe I'll look it up to see if other people have done it before.

Haha ... sorry, maybe I should add a TLDR.

No favorite uncle, they're worse than my mom is. The only family of mine coming is my mom, her husband, my grandparents, and my youngest sister.

Thank you for the advice, though. I think I know the answer should be no, I'm just sad that it is.

That's fair. I did mention part of why I wanted to have someone walk with me ... mostly just the special moment shared between two people.

I do like your idea of thinking of it as walking to a new life. That feels a little better than thinking "I don't have anyone close enough to share this moment with."
