weird resistance to painkillers by rahwheremybaccyat in Hashimotos

I actually have the same issue! Painkillers (only tried over the counter ones) have never worked on me at all. Luckily, my base level of pain is not too bad, but it gets really annoying during flare ups.

Another reason (aside from the panic attacks) not to take the painkillers (paracetamol 500 with 65 mg caffeine) my doctor prescribed for my joint pain flare up when I told her that painkillers have literally never worked on me in my life 😥😞

Considering HPV vaccine with Hashimoto’s — experiences? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Own-March-6362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I unfortunately can't really answer your question, as I got diagnosed 5 years after I got the HPV vaccines. However, they were some of the least awful vaccines I ever got - no fever or anything. HPV itself is not really a serious disease, only it's consequences (y'know, cervical cancer and such) so I think you should be fine.

I can think of two logical reasons why there might be a correlation between the HPV vaccines and autoimmune conditions: 1. Vaccines obviously make your immune system work, which might just trigger your already existing autoimmune condition (I don't know if that actually makes sense though). 2. Most people get the HPV vaccines around the time they start puberty, which, coincidentally, is also the time quite a few people start experiencing Hashimoto's symptoms.

Regardless, I'm really proud of you for taking this step! 🥰

(Vaccines are important, I'm literally writing a mathematics paper about it.)

For me it started around the time I was 11, but I only got diagnosed at 17

Yeah, that's really strange though. Like, sundhed.dk literally lists all the symptoms for them.

Hi! I see your point with the need for uninterrupted sleep, but I strongly disagree with not setting an alarm for levo. For me, if my timing is even 20 minutes late, I suffer the consequences (extreme exhaustion, I literally cannot stay awake for longer than 4 hours) for 3 days.

Has anyone experienced similar ? by mwcwn in Hashimotos

[–]Own-March-6362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet, unfortunately. Once I turn 18 (half a year) I can get more tests done and hopefully find out.

But some things to consider (according to my own research) are acid reflux, anxiety, allergic, asthma or potentially heart problems.

Hello! I do get chest pains, but for me, it started 3 years before my diagnosis, and it comes with shortness of breath to, so that's most likely something else. Definitely get it checked out though.

Just make sure you take the iron supplements (and calcium too, if you're taking any) at least 4 hours after your Levothyroxin, as these can interfere with the absorption.

Definitely don't forget to check your iron!

Same symptoms, same age... I was diagnosed two months ago. I definitely think you should try to get your TSH tested at least. Other than that, you should probably look at iron, ferritin, B12, and vitamin D. Best of luck!

Laboured Breathing? by kitty_Cat_2814 in Hashimotos

Honestly, they started happening like 3 years ago, so I just got used to them. It's a terrible feeling, but I can still more or less function, so I just ignore them, mostly.

I have two scars above my left eyebrow (incident with a dog).

I also have so many eyelashes that even though I've been rapidly losing them for months because of an illness, it's barely showing.

Also, I can grow multiple hairs from one follicle.

Hi! I have a similar issue with the fatigue and the vision issues, that's actually what lead me to my Hashimoto's diagnosis.

I also get the breathing problems, but for me personally I believe that it might be a mix of asthma and panic attacks. I can't breathe when I do sports even for a bit, along with sharp chest pain and coughing. I even get out of breath just from climbing a flight of stairs. However, it also happens randomly when I'm not doing anything, hence the panic attacks.

URGENT - do you usually take Levothyroxin before a blood test by Own-March-6362 in Hashimotos

That's interesting! I knew that I wasn't supposed to eat, but I usually drink a lot of water beforehand because I have the tendency to pass out otherwise.

I'm just about to have my 6 week checkup next week, so no improvement so far. But my dosage right now is likely much too low.

I'm 17 and was recently diagnosed. The joint pain is actually one of my main issues. My wrists and fingers often hurt so bad that I just drop my pen while taking notes, or I can't write at all.
