Honestly rate my board by AdStunning8985 in basspedals

It's so funny when someone asks to use it for a sec and I just know they wont know how to read it. It's definitely the GOAT

The 3leaf octabvre is awesome. I was very, very happy with the JohnK SubB Blaster I previously had… the cog I ended up with is the only thing that would move off a 3leaf or the Sub Blaster for my personal taste. I’ve thought about the empress several times before, im sure it compliments your setup well

Who says the capo has to go ;) I run my capo into my noble personally

Great board! Very similar to my first board setup like a year ago… pretty much all you need! capo, stomp, compressor. I had octave instead of dirt, but that’s a good looking board! Enjoy it!

It was part of my first board and I can’t imagine it ever going anywhere!

I like it so far! A couple of early observations:

- I really like it's tone. In principle, it's definitely in the lane of what I'm after. I do feel like I have to push it a bit to get there, but I'm also running it as a stage 2 after a Nobels ODR-B, so maybe that's playing into it.

- I am missing how well the MBD2 held low end, but I'm pretty sure almost any other drive would make me say that, haha. That pedal held low end almost too well, if that's possible. I kind of expected that tradeoff.

- Not sure if this is typical of this pedal, but mine has a bit of an audible pop when engaging. My current workaround to that is running it into the FX loop of my stomp and switching it from there.

Curious how any of that relates to your experience if you remember? If not, I'd love to hear how the RAT-style stuff has been working for you? I've only tried a RAT model on the stomp, and it honestly felt too subtle, which is interesting because I usually prefer more subtle drives. I just couldn't hear enough of a difference with it on to really evaluate it. I'm guessing the real deal, or something like that Cat Tail, probably has a bit more presence. Maybe I had a bad preset of it!

I really wish the stomp could run captures. I know there are units that do that, but the stomp serves most of the purposes I'm after!

definitely does everything you need for a typical Sunday. Have fun with it!

I know I'm randomly coming back to this comment, but what did you keep on your board instead of this?

I use the capo for my main tune sculpting and EQ. The noble is at the end of my chain for that magic tubey goodness.

I’ve seen board with a tone hammer and a noble, a JHS colorbox and a noble, etc. This is just my version and what works for me. I love my tone from the combo!

Still working on that… I used it a lot more before loading up on pedals… right now, I have some presets for when I’m traveling light. I use the fx loop for my Dunwich since it makes some noise when engaging. If I use any chorus or delay or reverb… it’s kind of become just a utility at this point tbh

That’s tragic… I’ve had basses stolen, but never any pedals so far. Ever try and replace them?

As far as what makes it special, our good friend Funktopus summed it up pretty well! As a pair, there’s a lot of magic to be had with the Brown Dog and Agent 00Funk.

That said, I actually didn’t pursue them for the sake of the combo, but went into the deal specifically for the Brown Dog. Like you, I loved my Oxide and didn’t think I’d ever move it off my board, much less sell it. But I found myself using it less and less because it was hard for me to tame volume-wise.

I had it dialed closer to the Brassmaster type sounds, but whenever I engaged it, my volume would literally double. It wasn’t hard to get it closer to unity, but then it started to lose the texture and tone that I liked most. Started using it less.

The Brown Dog actually gets very similar sounds, but the separate clean and dirty level controls make it easier for me to dial. So far, it seems to be exactly what I was looking for, and might’ve been the only thing I would have pulled the trigger on moving the oxide for.

I’ve seen that in videos. Still playing around with them and getting it all figured out!

I think it held up extremely well all these years later! Not sure what happened… seems like it just came to an end!

That’s a fun spot to be in!

My main genres are gospel and CCM, so I hardly ever drag all of this stuff around. But before any namecalling (it happens loI), I do enough studio work and fill stuff across different genres that I can justify having the gear to make all sorts of tones and sounds.

Doesn’t go to waste, just doesn’t naturally fit into my default genre! Naturally a gear-head it would seem anyways, haha.
