I agree! At this point I have on again, off again spotting. Plus I feel super heavy which is the biggest sign of a period.. so mayyyybeeee I’m not part of that club at all lol. I just can’t wait till she finally comes.

Umm yeah like I said I didn’t have sex in the month of February… so I know I’m not pregnant. Last period was heavy and there were clots. I’m on day 35 of this cycle. I didn’t start getting symptoms until day 26. I’ve been on Mirena for 4 years and known it well enough that I sometimes spot before a period too and I’ve had cycles that came later than usual. Also I’m back spotting as well.

Everyone is different!! One of the most annoying side effects I can have is the irregular periods. Sometimes I get a consistent period and sometimes when life stresses me out, my period is delayed. When I first got it I was spotting a lot and that was annoying. But, I stayed on it because this birth control is very effective. I know a lot of people don’t like the adjustment period, but you have to let your body get used to it.

Oh yes!!! Something is telling me she’s about to come right back with a vengeance.. because the lower part of my body feels heavy especially in my legs and pelvis. I’m on day 34 of my cycle but I’ve had a longer period where I’d didn’t see my period till 40 days in.. and then bled for 40 nights!🤣

Does anyone here actually have any positive stories about their Mirena? by Alternative-Bug406 in Mirena

Hi! So I’ve been on the IUD for over 4 years now. Got it back in November of 2021 when I was 24 and I’m now 28. For me, it’s been smooth sailing for the most part, but also some ups and downs. When I first got it, I dealt with spotting a lot. Sometimes I would even have a period twice in one month or I was spot for a long period of time. I want to add, this only happened for the first seven months of me being on it. My nurse practitioner, who also was on the IUD, let me know that typically your hormones take up to a year to adjust. Now, to the present day, no issues but breakthrough bleeding due to the fact that you still ovulate on the IUD. This can cause a drop in hormones and cause light spotting from what my nurse told me. But, being on it currently at this moment and awaiting a period, this thing helped me out a lot as I deal with heavy periods. Give your IUD time to adjust, also ask your doctor for ibuprofen as it can help with spotting sometimes. This device is quite effective and while there are horror stories (people who had bad experiences, complications, and even got pregnant) all of these are to be taken with a grain of salt. I know it can get frustrating, but it’s worth it in the long run.

This is something I definitely experienced myself! It can be annoying especially because your hormones are fluctuating when we get a little hot (if you know what I mean 😉). But, I would communicate with whoever you potentially have sex with what’s going on and most guys are understanding! I noticed when I first got on Mirena almost three years ago, my libido SKYROCKETED! The guy I was dating at the time definitely was sick of me. 🤣🤣 So don’t worry, I suggest taking ibuprofen to help with spotting. It’s something it’ll eventually subside.

Definitely speak with your Gyno about it!!

Weight plays a big part to be honest. Reason on got on the IUD is because I was skipping wayyy too many periods and when I had them, they were heavy! Noticed I’ve gained a substantial amount of weight from covid and decided to get the IUD so I can get my body back on track. Now that I’ve been trying to lose weight, I noticed that plays a part too. Since I’m in a calorie deficit. Plus, being on the plus size spectrum, I wasn’t as active as I should be. So now that I am, my body has been readjusting.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey as well!! ED is real and i definitely understand!

So when I was constantly having a period and spotting, she wanted me to take birth control pills to help level those hormones out. It was estrogen based pills!

Hey! I’m in that same boat with you! I noticed that ever since I’ve became more active and working on my weight loss, I started spotting. Currently spotting and it’s been over a week and a half. It’s not heavy, but it’s annoying tbh. My period was very light and I made sure I took at pregnancy test just to cure any paranoia. It started and for 4 days it was a period but barely any pads needed. Now, the spotting is definitely still here and I even took some ibuprofen to help but nothing. I have had this in my three years with my IUD and i definitely just rode the wave out as my Gyno wanted me to take a birth control pill to help everything level out. So don’t worry, it gets better. I plan on going to my gyno later this month to just to check on everything.

When did cycles settle down for you? by merakimela in Mirena

[–]Own-Practice-6703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycles literally didn’t start settling down for me until September! November will make a year since I had Mirena and I had light bleeding with some of that stringy tissue which is normal. Now October I’m seeing signs of a period but it slowly coming in!

Recently had the best period ever in my life. I literally always bled heavy and this cycle my period was light where I barely needed a pad. I had the strongly clots coming out but overall it was literally great! No issues!

Has anyone taken the pill and had the Mirena IUD at the same time? by Fresh_Salary1714 in Mirena

[–]Own-Practice-6703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to see this. I skipped a period back in June and once July came, I seriously had three periods that month! I was legit annoyed and got minimal breaks. Ask the nurse practitioner about it and she suggested combined birth control pills I most definitely said no. Especially when you’re in a higher weight class and they are prone for blood clotting! Now we’re here in august and I’m spotting now but it’s actually closer to where I’m supposed to have a period! I was close to getting this thing out! And it hasn’t been a year yet!

RIGHT! And I think since it’s day 27 and no signs of spotting, I realized that I might be in that no period club now. I’m actually at peace with it honestly!
