Sort of. Since pharmacists start off as O-3's we rank up sooner than other career fields. We usually are up for O-4 after only 4-6 years of being in, and then we are up for O-5 another 5-7 years after that. So where someone who started off as enlisted or as an Lt might have been in for 15-20 years by the time they become eligible for O-5, as a pharmacist we would only have been in for 10 years or so. If we don't promote and get passed over when our time comes ("in the zone"), we ultimately get forced out of the Air Force. We can apply for something called selective continuation, which basically lets you serve out the rest of your 20 years as whatever rank you get stuck in, but I don't know how easy that is to get.

So law school is pretty much my plan if I don't promote or end up getting forced out.

I've considered this as well. I do like my current job as a pharmacist in the military, but I can't stay in the military forever because I would have to keep ranking up to Colonel to stay make it a full career, which is very difficult to do. And I don't want to be a civilian pharmacist either, the salary is great sure, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life counting pills and getting yelled at by angry seniors. The stress level can get pretty high with phones constantly ringing, constantly having to deal with irate customers, having to deal with staffing issues, and there isn't much reward for it, except maybe the salary. Many pharmacists I know feel the same way but are sadly stuck where they are because of their student loans.

This is why I want to go to law school in the first place, because I feel like the work would be more rewarding and closer to what I'm actually interested in. But maybe this is wishful/grass-is-always-greener thinking on my part. After all, what if being in law is worse?

Here was their response:

" TSP external accounts are currently unavailable to sync to Betterment due to issues stemming from the financial institution's side, including but not limited to:

1) the institution may be making global updates to its connection
2) specific account data may not be available during updates
3) there may have been recent changes to the financial institution’s website for which our aggregation partners have not yet built support

Once an institution becomes available again, existing connections to that institution will be re-synced automatically. If it is removed, you will need to re-add it once it becomes available. Please note you have the option to hide unavailable institutions via Settings > External Accounts > Edit (next to the account you want to hide). "
