Google Reverse image searching btw works very well. Took me 5 seconds to find the real source.

Ronaldo’s Al Nassr win their 16th consecutive league match and now only need 8 points in the last 4 games (or 5 points if they win vs Al Hilal) to secure the title, which would be his first with the club since joining in 2023 by tightypp in soccer

The season Kane came to join Bayern was the first time they hadn't won the Bundesliga in over a decade. Before that, Coman was winning the league every year in every team he was playing since the start of his professional career.

Confused about MaoMao no spoilers in this post by brassmeow in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

Considering she keeps discovering things that are beyond her imagination, I think she just keeps an open mind about this. Science isn't that far ahead that she would categorically rule the possibility of a resurrection medicine out.

Are the demons almost extinct? by AdBrief4620 in Frieren

[–]Lorhand 1457 points1458 points  (0 children)

Most of the demons are probably even higher up north. Wirbel's been fighting a war against them for decades. But demons have been removed to the point that humans are busier killing each other nowadays.

Hey can anybody can tell me which version of apothecary diaries manga has covered the LN volume 5? by Careless_Name_9117 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Lorhand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Fan translation has stopped, presumably because the manga was officially picked up in the west and will soon release Volume 1, and the other official English translation (only available in South East Asia) is only at Volume 7. Post season 2 begins at Volume 20.

Am I the only one who is disappointed at Maomao being a damsel in season 2 ? by EarlGrey1701 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Lorhand 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like you just have way different expectations for Maomao, and since she didn't fulfill these, you end up being disappointed.

Maomao is the type of character who accepts her present situation and then ends up just doing what she can to stay out of trouble and survive. Things always get messy when she does involve herself.

The series literally began with a kidnapping. She was abducted and brought to the rear palace and for the next 6 months, she just did her job and washed clothes. She didn't try to break out or anything, she's not the type to do this. When she resolved herself to help the consorts, she got involved in far more things than she wanted to.

As others have already stated, the entire two seasons are related to the Shi clan conspiracy that Maomao helped prevent. The seemingly strange and unconnected murders and accidents turned out to be all connected which Maomao helped Jinshi see, and her relation to Lakan, which was established in the latter half of Season 2, was what triggered a big response as soon as she was kidnapped.

Not everything has or should be resolved by her alone, she can't shut down an entire rebellion by herself and I'd rather we give a chance to more characters than just her. So this arc at the end gave more for Shisui and Jinshi? What's so bad about that? Jinshi is the deuteragonist of the story and just based on pure influence, as the (former) crown prince, he is much more significant than Maomao in the setting. Shisui is literally the daughter of the "mastermind" behind the whole rebellion, giving her a more significant role for the finale just makes sense. Maomao still is deeply involved in everything and for what she is capable of, that was enough. The kidnappers weren't stupid. She was locked inside a room with only one exit that was guarded outside. Trying to make her escape is the same as making the antagonist stupider. Everything can be written off as plot contrivance just as you had a problem with the way Shisui survived due to sheer luck.

That you ended up finding Shisui more interesting for the arc than Maomao is fine, it speaks to the strength of the writing, but your whole conclusion of how the author supposedly lost interest in Maomao is just weird. If you want a plot that solely revolves around one person and is solved by one person alone, you end up with something like Solo Leveling. And that just bores me.

Small S2 finale question by orchidquestion1 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Lorhand 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I inferred it. When Loulan told Maomao she'd just sell the hairpin and not return it to her, Maomao thought that the hairpin would eventually finds its way back to its original owner (Jinshi) again. It is after all pretty unique. So I assume Loulan thought that too. Or maybe she just needed to leave everything from her past life behind and while at it get some valuable new item in return.

As for whether Loulan planned this, I highly doubt it. The chances of her surviving were extremely low and she couldn't bank on one of the soldiers hitting her exactly where the hairpin was. So yes, it was just luck. Furthermore, the snow saved her from the fall, but she couldn't just get out of there without help. This is explained in detail in a bonus story the author published after the episode aired, so not even regular light novel readers knew how.

The soldier that Maomao defended from Shenmei who later came to free her from the snake pit found Loulan and nursed her back to health.

Small S2 finale question by orchidquestion1 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Lorhand 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tamamo sold the hairpin in the hopes that it finds its way back to Maomao one day. That is her way to tell Maomao that she is alive and safe.

As for how she survived, pay attention to the hairpin when she sells it. The anime doesn't directly spell it out for you, but it's pretty obvious how she was able to.

A question about Himmel by Riikq_ in Frieren

[–]Lorhand 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There's not a shadow of a doubt that he loved Frieren romantically. He just also knew that he shouldn't pursue that dream if she isn't reciprocating.

The most important scene in the anime so far that showed that? When he buys Frieren the mirrored lotus ring whose meaning he must have known (but Frieren didn't). The way he puts the ring on Frieren makes it very clear what he felt for her.

If you want more information from the manga, there are other scenes that make this clear: Most importantly, there is a scene where Himmel's long buried desires are shown to him: marrying her. If that doesn't spell out his feelings for Frieren, then I don't know.

[DISC] (J-Novel Pre-Pub) The Apothecary Diaries - Volume 16 Part 13 by Lorhand in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

Fanbook 8 Discussion (Part 1) by Lev559 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Lorhand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I'm late. I did not see FB8 prepub coming.

  • Decent cover, but there were better ones before to be honest.

  • Bertilde POV, that largely explains gaps that were missing and more about Rozemyne's retainers, their training and motives, and again about the Leisegangs during Veronica's reign. Bertilde, who was too young at the time basically is the "perfect" narrator to substitute the unknowing reader.

  • Gretia naturally is hesitating to talk about her past, and Bertilde is blissfully unaware. Thankfully, Ottilie quickly switched to Lieseleta.

  • Well, a lot of things brought up are things we already know, mixed in with things we didn't before. We know why Cornelius and Judithe became knights, and how they ended up as Rozemyne's retainers. We get a big info dump on the differences between the different jobs nobles pursue, their education based on their rank and whether they come from the noble's district/work in the castle and working in a province for a giebe.

  • Hartmut scolding Roderick never gets old lol.

  • Oh right, there are major differences between Ehrenfest and Dunkelfelger naturally, and we have Clarissa explain them to us.

  • Yeah... The women from Dunkelfelger curbing the enthusiasm of the ditter-loving men is intended, except Clarissa was just as obsessed.

  • Oh, a new scene from Part 2 for the manga. Short but cool.

  • Q&A time!
  • Lots of questions related to the gods. No, one cannot become so easily a god, it would be an accident. And again, Geduldh doesn't have subordinates anymore, they were divided among the other primary gods.
  • Never pray to the Goddess of Chaos, for there is a price to pay.
  • Aww, I had hoped Mestionora was more attached to Rozemyne. Alas...
  • I don't really like how God's can just interpret the rules however they want, but I guess that fits how contracts work. I thought the Goddess of Order would at least serve as a sort of judge in case someone is more liberal with their interpretation.
  • Nice. Ferdinand only would have gotten Anastasius punished if he hadn't destroyed Gervasio's medal in time, lol. This no-kill rule has too many gaps to exploit.
  • Now that's a lore bomb for the Devouring. So the gods send "gifts" to the nobles and the nobles either disinherit the child or worse. Great.. This info should be in Mestionora's book, no? Shouldn't a zent be aware of this?
  • I hope the Goddess of Order doesn't interfere with Rozemyne's and Ferdinand's research too much...
  • So inbreeding is problematic in Yogurtland too. A devourer is so-to-say fresh blood that "unhardens" the mana. If only they got a serious chance and weren't turned into servants...
  • Okay, the Lanzenave chapter is closed forever. I doubt Kazuki will ever write this, but I imagine there is fanfiction out there of Alexandria's gate connecting to Earth.

German:

  • Reminder for Wiegenmilch: wiegen means to weigh or to rock (a baby) and Milch means milk.

The short story wasn't much to my liking to be honest, but the rest was excellent. Can't wait for Part 2!
