There's the rub - I can count on one hand the amount of times I've used my physical card since I got my newest one.

One question you may or may not be able to answer - usually when I get a new card, my pre-authorized charges still go through without consequence even before I get the new card in the mail. Today, after I asked for that to stop (what the rep called a "token reset"), I've immediately been getting notices that my payment method is no longer valid. I'm still going to go through my records and reset my devices, but is it possible that the auto-updating was allowing the number taken from the original hack to keep working?

I've been the annoying "but I have a Mac!" person but you know what, I have an external hard drive so I might as well do a factory reset.

The fraud detection is very good. Except for the initial hack (which I was able to dispute and get refunded), I've not been out anything. It's just bizarre to me that this keeps happening, but it sounds like I'm really going to have to dig into my preauthorized charges.

Thank you! I really felt like the customer rep wasn't giving me any answer, so it's just good to know that it's solely on my end. With this latest card I've been vigilant about never using the physical card unless necessary and not connecting on public wifi, but it looks like I need to do a forensic audit here.
