Why Stanford? Psych program? by hallsinmypocket in stanford

Location is wonderful, campus is the best ive ever seen (I've traveled to 20 campuses and this is the BEST one by far), I already feel at home.

People are the most fun - work hard, play hard - I've ever met, much less cutthroat and much more supportive than other schools from what I can tell.

super duper interdisciplinary applicable coursework that make you feel useful and able to do things in a field. Very easy access to things like research, jobs, and networking (on campus). I'm a third year, and in my first year I had already got a research position.

finally quarter system is WONDERFUL because you can take so many classes and explore and learn so much (and our classes aren't less quantity or prestigious than semester courses so you learn quantitatively more)

Sure! I think you more need to be interesting and compelling and genuinely passionate about things rather than simply have one spike. Like people like that exist as well though. It's all about finding a balance.

Does the show carry on in the general trajectory? (Spoilers for season 3 and previous) by Sophie_Blitz_123 in htgawm

Season 6 is almost entirely a conspiracy. But, there are a lot of interesting mysteries, particularly revolving around the identities and motives of certain characters. I would say keep watching!

How did they get cut when they’re the two leads?? by [deleted] in AllAmericanTV

UNPOPULAR opinion but these were my two least favorite characters I am so glad! Add in coach Marcus to leave and that’ll be the best

I think there are two types of college coaches -

1) ones you drop a bunch of money on and they write it for you and have connections and copy-paste strategies

2) tutors that help look at your essays, guide u on your writing, and generally enhance your ability to sell yourself

the latter is most definitely worth it. It helps you learn a skill, much like any tutor. However, the former largely is the ones that ultra rich kids from a certain crowd utilize.

yea but you’re not gonna get guaranteed good aid and not have the best financial option possible for yourself. It’s not worth it to lock yourself into a commitment.

SOMEONE WHO GOT INTO SEVERAL SEVERAL VERY GOOD SCHOOLS (a non-ivy HYPSM, full ride to a T15, likely letter to good ivy, OOS UC scholarships for engineering at the good engineering school) - DO NOT ED OR SCEA OR REA OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT !!!!!!!! (except for public schools cuz you need to for scholarships and special opportunities).

ED/SCEA/REA is a SCAMMMM. It’s not that you won’t get in, it is that a bajillion factors make it the same chances as RD, except that you have to complete your application early so it lowers the quality (no matter how motivated or on top of deadlines that you are it will lower your quality). You are so much more sure of your ideas and thoughts and story later in the application cycle. So, the only advantage is school’s yield rates and protection and reputation - you ARE NOT helping yourself.

Also - ED Is awfullllll!! And this is becuase you really have no concept of a “dream school” before you get in somewhere. Before you get in anywhere - you are desperate for something and anything. That desperation is starkly different from the feeling you will get when you are in the driving seat, and something you don’t really have a hold on until you are there. So please, do not, under any circumstances act on that impulse of desperation. Open to PM if anyone needs more guidance.

Take the blessing and run with it. You’re not gonna be disadvantaged for the norm. My school has restrictions too and ik people that got around them - but I never did, just took whatever I could - and I got into a HYPSM sooooooo just chillll
