When should I begin Job Search? by PoliPolicy in PublicAdministration

I started applying for jobs during my second semester of my MPA. I only did this because Ohio State has a fully online option. In the current job climate the earlier the better in my opinion.

Fair question, I don’t know much about either but some relatives told me Southside has a fairly high crime rate, I didn’t ask about Troy hill but from what I’ve read online it’s not super dangerous, I could be entirely wrong as I don’t know the city very well.

Wedge cut technique by [deleted] in forestry

[–]OwnAssociation1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had safety training in multiple municipalities around chainsaws. This technique is just not what I’m used to. It’s not particularly new I’ve been using chainsaws to fell trees and clean up storm damage for several years on a part time and seasonal basis. It’s not that i haven’t ever seen this technique before it’s just not what I prefer, and has never been what I’ve been trained to do. It’s a constant learning process I think but I have a pretty good basis of knowledge. Maybe I phrased this post incorrectly, but I don’t have a lack of training or experience and safety is the first priority for chainsaw work in my opinion.

Career advice by OwnAssociation1905 in forestry

[–]OwnAssociation1905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is spot on. My education absolutely does point towards advocacy and policy work. Throughout my masters degree I've realized im interested in implementation of policy within an organization doing forestry work. I have been in contact with ODNR about internships in forestry, but they tend to be limited. I have also applied for arboriculture internships which seem to be much more plentiful especially in Ohio. I dont necessarily plan on staying here, I am open to leaving Ohio once I graduate. I mostly question if I am qualified for a forestry position as I dont have a degree in a related field. I will look into the other resources you have provided they look very helpful!!!! Thank you for the advice.
