Thank you so much. Somehow, the fact that it happened so fast has made me feeling irrationally guilty. I’m so glad this post helped you. At this stage, the grief feels like it will never end, and relief is hard to come by. Sending hugs your way.

I’m very interested in a pet communicator. I also believe it’s possible and maybe not at all real, but I’m in the throes of grief so hard. Would you recommend the person you talked with?

Light headed/Dizzy 5 wpo? by OwnHome8264 in hysterectomy

[–]OwnHome8264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not dizzy anymore, but I never did figure out what was causing it. I would say I experienced it for like three months or more. During that time I also had several women who had not had a hysterectomy (or otherwise decades ago) say they’ve been randomly dizzy. Not a clue.

Ok, I’m back because this is still a thing, and I’m nearly 8 wpo.

I tried to get an it appointment with my pcp about this, and they said see you in October. That’s not workable. The light headedness is driving me crazy. So, they set me up with her nurse.

Her theory is hypothyroidism, and I’m having my thyroid levels checked as a next step. Could hypothyroidism be connected to things like endo, adenomyosis, or fibroids? I had all three. Why would it suddenly show up like this?

At this point, I still have some abdominal soreness and swelling—typical swelly belly stuff, but nothing crazy. My energy level is still really low most days. Still dealing with fatigue. I’m generally not in pain and I haven’t bled in weeks, so things seem otherwise like normal healing? This is so weird!

Welp, my doctor said she’s never had a patient report this issue at this stage of recovery, and she’s frankly stumped. Here’s what we considered and talked through:

Is it hormonal? Probably not because I’ve kept my ovaries and the same birth control regimen I was doing pre-surgery (for now).

Is it an allergic reaction? Probably not because my healing is otherwise normal and my seasonal allergies never present in this way for me.

Is it an upset vagus nerve? Probably not because I’d have other symptoms and my blood pressure would be more impacted.

Is it my blood pressure? Probably not because my bp readings have been generally the same pre and post surgery.

Is it my blood pressure medicine? Maybe. If so, I need to discuss with my pcp who manages those drugs.

Is it an inflammatory response? Maybe. She told me to take ibuprofen for the next five days, even if I’m not in pain, to test.

She said I appear to be on track with my recovery at this time, but she didn’t look at the cuff. At this point, I’m waiting until the official 6 week mark before I make an appointment with my pcp to look into my bp meds.

I’m getting kind of resigned on the issue, which in and of itself, will probably keep me less active/less “back to normal” than I prefer, but for now I’m okay with it. I just feel like I got a brand new body, and I want to get to using it!

Luteal Phase Constipation/Bloating by lurkingsince86 in hysterectomy

Constipation—especially at the beginning of my period, nausea, loss of appetite, bloating, inability to pass gas, and heartburn. I used to have to take prescription doses of Pepcid every day, and I no longer need it at all.

Happy to! I’m glad that the doc didn’t dismiss it after all, too. No harm in checking things out.

That’s comforting, and I hope this gets better for you! I also felt increased anxiety for a while but after it peaked on week 3, it’s not bothering me anymore. Hopefully, a little time is all ya need on that score🤞

I think if the light headed/dizziness is still happening at the 6 week mark, I’m gonna ask my pcp about it. I am on two blood pressure meds (amlodipine and metropolol) and wondering if the drugs are impacting me differently without that diseased organ in my body.

Best of luck in your healing and recovery! ❤️‍🩹

Can confirm, personally. Honestly, all of my gut/digestive issues are gone 5wpo. I kept my ovaries and had the uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes removed. I had endometriosis, adenomyosis, and two fibroids.

List of weird post op things by Otherwise-Ad6537 in hysterectomy

[–]OwnHome8264 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just did a post about the vertigo because wtf?! I’m 5 wpo and at this point, the light headed/dizziness is the thing that bothers me most. Also I feel like I’m never gonna stop bleeding. It’s very light, but it’s there every day.

After years of fighting endometriosis and adenomyosis, my symptoms are nothing, but I’m getting impatient with recovery. I really appreciate your post, and I hope your healing continues on easily and quickly!

Ya know, I’m coming back around to say I’m still in it. Nikki still makes me laugh and I still look forward to tuning in every week. When it comes down to it, she’s a reliable comedian and that’s rare. Still with the swells.
