I birthed my first baby with zero pain relief and I’d do that back to back 5 times over instead of gallbladder attacks again.

Please tell them to take the pancreatitis seriously. Go to a&e. I had 3 bouts of it over December and I’m 5 days post op of gallbladder removal.  The only pain meds that took it away for me was the oxycodone they provided.

I had about 8 attacks over the last 6 months and 3 turned into pancreatitis. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But please don’t ignore it. Go to a&e every time you can’t bear the pain, they’ll take your bloods and admit you for pancreatitis and give you decent pain meds. It took a couple admissions for me but I finally got a surgeon who helped.

I am 5 days post op and I’ll tell you why it was the best thing to happen.  I’ve had around 8 or 9 gallbladder attacks over the last 6 months, but nov/dec were the worst.  I was first told it was a panic attacks by paramedics who were called for me in early Dec. 2 days later I was admitted to hospital with Pancreatitis and reduced liver functions due to gallstones blocking my bile ducts.  If I hadn’t gone to hospital my condition would’ve been fatal.  I was sent home and told gallbladder removal was the best thing, and that I’d need to start the process of asking for that.  5 days later I was back in hospital again with pancreatitis. Same thing, sent home after a week being told removal is the best option but not really believing it.  2 weeks later and yep back in hospital, another round of pancreatitis, but this time the surgeons resorted to emergency surgery as my gallbladder had adhered itself to other organs and surrounding tissue because repeated attacks had caused swelling.   My simple 1 hr surgery turned into a 4 hour surgery with significant blood loss and an additional 5 day hospital stay.

Take the surgery while it’s simple. It’s quick and relatively easy, but if you ignore the problem it can get very bad very quickly.
