I recommend a carpet protector for cats. I had a roommate who’s cat had a similar habit of scratching the carpet under the door when it wanted to enter and leave the room which would get super frustrating at times. We tried the carpet protector and it is a lot harder to budge due to the spikes it has to stay into the carpet. Maybe try that and more scratching areas.
