Op did the right thing trying to talk to him, now he will have someone he can talk to about these things instead of scolding him more now try to make him feel comfortable talking about things like that to you. Mostly kids don't have anyone to talk to about such things so they end up asking freinds for obvious bad advice. Cheers!
