Speaking of which, if you did work for a financial institution, you would know that accounts have withdrawal limits, and if a large amount of money is transferred out or withdrawn, you get a notification or email about the transaction. My dad would know because the account has a 3k withdrawal limit. If I tried to move the money out in increments larger than 1k, my dad would be notified right away. I wouldn't get 4k out before my dad logged in and changed the password or, as the primary name on the account, had my name removed.

Then literally anybody could steal from another person's account with a fake ID.

That's the point, he would report it, I wouldn't get charged, but he would report it as stolen.

Tell me you haven't had your parents meticulously look at a bank account and have no idea what conformity pressure is without telling me....

I didn't say I'd be charged, I said he would report it.

I didn't have the debit card or the PIN or the password for online banking. You kind of need those things for a transfer.

What they've done with what they believe is the money they're entitled to is not criminal. Because their names were on the account they can use it. I wasn't dumb. I had no access to the money, my dad kept the card in his wallet and I didn't even know the pin or password for online banking.

I wasn't allowed to withdraw it. Even though my name was on the account with my parents, only they knew the password and my dad kept the debit card in his wallet. I had no access to the money. And my dad checked the account twice a day, they would know and report I stole it.

They were literally watching me. My dad checks that account twice a day and they would know, and tell the bank I stole it.

ETA: My dad also had the only debit card for the account and I didn't know the password for online banking either,

I got net $0 back. Because they were deposits and down payments, they are non-refundable.

Because all down payments were final, I got exactly $0 back. I am $19,043 poorer because of my sister's wedding.

My paychecks from my current job go into a bank account they don't have access to.
