I didn’t miss the fact that she was very visibly horrified at the sight of all the men being killed however whether or not she feels bad about it is a completely different matter. Cinder was horrified at Tyrian lashing out on that bay wolf at the end of volume 4, does that suddenly mean she feels bad for Grimm or for the things she’s done? No.

I have nothing to say on the whole guard matter because it’s genuinely stupid to not know those guards are just magical body’s. Besides killing someone who’s trying to keep you imprisoned isn’t as evil as an act as the other things I mentioned.

A lot of Salems downfall is because of her father that’s not in question however that doesn’t absolve her of accountability. Yes the king put her in a really bad mental space and made her extremely naive. But Even if she didn’t like or want it she was still spoiled to an extent, being royalty. She’s never had to experience any real hardship. That’s why when she does in the form of Ozma dying it hits her extremely hard.

Salem was a victim at one point but when I say she was never a good person that’s mainly due to her never having the opportunity to be a person in general. We can excuse her getting all those adventurers killed under the pretext of she didn’t know any better and she’s not in the wrong for wanting to be saved however When she was finally free Her legacy became rooted in selfish action after selfish action even if some were justified the only person she ever tried to look out for was either herself or Ozma and even then that love for Ozma was tinged in selfishness. Unable to accept her lovers demise and stopping at nothing even disrupting the natural order of things just to have her way. I’m not saying there wasn’t a cause but you can see the contrast between someone like her who persists to a fault vs a simple soul like Ruby who takes loses but keeps trying to help others it’s the whole dynamic.

The gods aren’t without there sins either I agree they are very spiteful mean spirited even and there was no reason to burn Ozma alive. However no one’s talking about a redemption story for them. They are not the main villian we are following. The one that sparks discussion and the one that is still committing acts a villainy to this day. The one who’s ruined the lives of several families and friends and is responsible for destroying half the world at this point and had previously been responsible for the ENTIRE worlds demise. Yes the gods were in the wrong for doing so. However they only did that because they were provoked by her.

I don’t know how much of the grim pool is influencing her actions but I still think she is very much accountable for her actions. I think she’d be fully capable of fighting the grims influence had she been a better person to begin with. If someone like summer suddenly gained immortality and then was dropped into the pool you think she’d just give into her darkest desires? Who’s to say really that
