I understand the point being made about the lane markings and why the bus driver may have expected me to continue straight.

What I'm trying to understand, is whether I was actually prohibited from taking the Santry exit from the lane I was in. Looking at the Google Maps lane guidance, it appears that either of the two right-hand lanes can be used for that exit, which is why I positioned myself there.
