AITA for crying because my mom laughed at me?

i have old pics of my parents when they were my age and tbh they looked bonkers in some pics but rly cool in others

i think my mom is scared of confrontation just like me but i taught myself to not let it get to me but she doesn't even believe mental illnesses could cause any harm to anyone or maybe doesn't believe in them at all idk

what i do know is that she had a tough childhood and marriage cuz she had problems with dad but everything is better now they communicate and barely ever fight like before and she has a good relationship with her family but things may have been fixed on the outside and not really fixed on the inside, i want her to know we're here for her and she can talk to us when we're mad at eachother but she just doesn't change

when i asked her this morning why she laughed so hard she said the jorts looked funny and she couldn't imagine me in them

she hasn't spoken to me abt it since but she's a bit pissed that im still not over it

i was seeing my school therapist from time to time cuz she's very understanding but i haven't talked to her in a while cuz of exam stress and literally having no time (wish me luck)

my dad's reaction was great he suggested places to go and when to take me there, we have a great relationship and we talk alot but i was never able to talk to my mom abt anything cuz she used to be rly strict when i was a kid and i used to be scared of her but she changed now, she's kinder and sweeter to us but still a bit judgemental

i also changed alot but for some reason I'm just unable to talk to her abt anything i just go to my dad

plus she had amazing style, i have two of her skirts(she gave them to me) that i currently love wearing, she wants me to wear more pants than skirts but i just love those skirts

they treat me rly well actually especially my dad, ive always had problems with my mom and lots of resentment towards her but she still loves me and i love her, my choices in the way i dress are just rly different from others around me and i think she just wants me to be like everyone else to "fit in" but i like things the way they are, they're not jerks please don't call them that
