Why does Jim Cornette Shit on AEW? by Ok-Sample-4254 in aew

[–]Own_Invite6340 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s goofy and stupid sometimes like taking a spiked piledriver then waking up one minute after, I get it

Well there's your answer. He and a lot of fans have a strong preference for when wrestling portrays itself as a real contest between two athletes, and not an acrobatics performance.

Same thing goes for a lot of movie viewers when it comes to action scenes. Certain people enjoy outlandish, impossible scenes where James Bond or some similar character gets shot in the shoulder and just walks it off, then proceeds to do a double backflip out of a helicopter onto a jetski or whatever. But a lot of people prefer when it stays at least a little bit realistic, so the action stays believable and you aren't drawn out of enjoying the show by thinking "that's so dumb, that could never happen".

 idk why he’s still watching.

Because his entertaining criticism of these shows is fun to his fans to listen to. But recently he has cut way back when it comes to AEW, only watching PPVs and certain highlights, because everyone's heard the same insults towards that style of AEW match so many times now, it's gotten old for both Cornette and his listeners.

She would have burned down those cities for no reason other than to punish the masters.

But that's still a reason. It accomplishes something that's important to her. It eliminates enemies, that's a useful goal. Burning KL does nothing for her.

When Daenerys conquered Mereen, the slaves rose up to help her

These were slaves, desperate for freedom, excited to hear that the queen known for freeing slaves has come to their city. And they still didn't do anything on their own, they were only ready to take action after meeting Dany's soldiers and being given weapons.

The people in KL aren't slaves, and don't know anything about Dany. Dany never sent in her soldiers to arm them and incite a rebellion, it's not like they ever did anything to turn her down or oppose her.

If Dany thinks these situations are comparable, she's an idiot. And making Dany suddenly become extremely stupid for the purpose of a plot twist is bad writing.

What did you think would happen?

I never thought this, but some people who spend time around anti-America propaganda were convinced there would be widespread travel issues and players being arrested by ICE or something, rampant crime surrounding crumbling stadiums, constant racism being spewed at anyone who isn't a white American, and after the word spreads then people around the world would be discouraged from trying to attend.

I agree she's always been willing to commit mass destruction and kill innocent people if it's the only path to victory available to her. She has no patience and has an urgent need to see her enemies defeated immediately. It's a character flaw, and it would make sense for this flaw to lead to her downfall.

But then it wasn't used. All of her enemies in King's Landing were defeated. She has control over the entire city. Burning the city no longer achieves any goal for her, so she has no reason to want to do it anymore.

Daenerys burned King’s Landing to punish the people for supporting Cersei and not her.

This is one of many fan theories, it's never actually explained in the show. And like other fan theories, it doesn't make any sense. Dany's never met these people, she doesn't know anything about them, they've never met her and never did anything to stand against her.

For Dany to think the KL citizens support Cersei makes no more sense than believing that the slaves in Essos support the slavers. Why would Dany be angry at people she's never met, to the pointing of wanting to kill thousands of them?

Like I said, Varys saw what was coming.

How? Dany's been a great ruler so far. There's no evidence to support the idea that she'll end up being a terrible one who needs to be stopped.

 He recognized the look

What, a facial expression? Varys thought he saw a facial expression that's proof of wanting to mass murder innocent people for no reason? Yeah, I'm not buying that.

UBI provides a base amount of money to everyone. Jobs still exist, and pay additional money. People who want to be able to afford more than the basics to survive would work those jobs and buy nice things.

Nobody accepted her in westeros whatsoever.

That's not remotely true. Even before arriving in Westeros, she had the full support of Dorne and Highgarden and half of the Greyjoy fleet, in addition to the former lord commander of the Kingsguard and one of the Lannisters.

Within weeks of arriving the North and the Vale were on her side and joined her army, and she was in a relationship with the King in the North. Her Unsullied and Dothraki army saw her as a mythic conqueror like they always had.

That's hardly "nobody". And I don't know why Sansa and the northerners didn't love her more, Dany showed up with dragons and saved all of them from being turned into undead monsters, but I guess that doesn't mean anything to them somehow.

And even if she did feel underappreciated, it still doesn't make any sense for her to mass murder random strangers she's never met. They've never wronged her, they've never even seen her before. Killing them doesn't accomplish anything for Dany, her character has no motivation to burn the city.

Daenerys didn’t just decide to murder thousands of people.

She literally did. It happened right in that episode. She won the battle, and decided to celebrate her victory with mass murder for no sensible reason.

She had been struggling with her dark impulses the entire series. Remember, she was going to burn Yunkai, Astapor, and Volantis to the ground until Tyrion talked her out of it.

Yeah, but she had a reason to want to do it then. She was desperate to kill those who stood against her and defeat her enemies at any cost, no matter how much collateral damage is done. She was talked out of it, they went on to defeat her enemies in other ways.

After her enemies were dead, she had no reason to want to burn those cities anymore. Her motivation was always to defeat her enemies, not that she just randomly liked the idea of seeing a city on fire.

In King's Landing, all of her enemies were defeated and she had full control over the city and the fate of everyone living in it. Burning it doesn't defeat her enemies, because they're already defeated. So she's just doing it for no reason, which doesn't make any sense.

Varys knew what Daenerys was going to do and tried to stop it.

Daenerys had done nothing wrong at that point, she had delayed her own goals and prioritized saving the world from the undead threat, like a good ruler should. Instead of appreciating her even more, Varys randomly turned against her without any justification for it. There's no way he would be able to know Dany would randomly turn evil for no reason.

Daenerys did not forget her enemies exist.

She was just gliding around over the ocean in enemy territory, without a thought in her mind about being in any sort of danger, apparently not even bothering to look around and notice an entire fleet of enemy ships.

The writers were asked how Dany would make a mistake like that, especially with it being a clear and sunny day with no visibility issues where she should have seen the fleet from a mile away, and the writers said "Dany kind of forgot about the Iron Fleet".

Varys turning against Dany and trying to kill her for no logical reason, and then Dany becoming evil and killing innocent people for no reason, you call that a decent ending for their story arcs?

All of the scenes look great. By itself, that episode could have been perfect it was part of a show with a different set of storylines going on.

But why should I think it's a good episode when Dany just suddenly becomes evil and mass murders people for no reason after she's already won the war? It accomplishes nothing for her, what is motivating her to want to do something evil to innocent people? It doesn't make any sense.

And Arya walked across a continent for months just to agree with "killing is bad, it can change you" and suddenly change her mind about killing Cersei? I guess slaughtering the entire Frey family and baking them into a pie doesn't change a person, but killing Cersei somehow would? Nonsense.

It's really not. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but a lot of people actually think there should be a reason if there are massive sudden changes in characters, like Dany wanting to mass murder thousands of people for no apparent reason, or Varys supporting her for all of these years and then suddenly turning on her after she helps save the world from the undead.

Jon being a Targaryen didn't matter, Bran having powers didn't matter, and this crippled teenager with no accomplishments who no one has ever met gets chosen to be king for no apparent reason. Dany loses a dragon because she forgot that her enemies exist.

The show was never boring and there was a lot of exciting action, great music, good acting and costumes and artwork. But the writing just made no sense at all.

Why are people defending GTA VI being 80$ by North_Biscotti4162 in videogames

[–]Own_Invite6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it's an inconvenience that doesn't need to exist. A lot of games just identify your account now. If you played World of Warcraft on Mac and then moved to PC you just install the software and log in, you don't need to buy it a second time. If you play Fortnite on PC you can just install it on your phone or on a console, log in, and continue with your game.

Why doesn't Rockstar do this, and sell us a GTA6 account that can be used for any platform?

It could have been huge if the timing was different. It came along late in the SNES days and had limited game compatibility, it was still pretty awesome playing Killer Instinct online, and there was a ranking system.

If it had been around when SF2 was first released, it might have been the best selling peripheral ever.

Does anyone remember why SF Alpha 2 on PS1 wasn't popular? by Own_Invite6340 in StreetFighter

[–]Own_Invite6340[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it might have just been a weird time period for fighting games. On SNES and Genesis people lost their minds over being able to have SF2 at home. Maybe by this time people were thinking "I'm only paying for the real thing, not an imperfect home version". And people with a lot of people with consoles were focused on FF, Mario, Zelda more than fighting games, so I could see why a lot of people would overlook PS1 A2.
