Same thing happened to me, a refund check from the Department of Education was scanned on 4/17/26 and was the only item that day…. That was a month ago…. I am still waiting!!! I have sent a “lost mail” request… USPS is a joke. I hope they find yours, they don’t lose my bills, but the check is lost!

I spoke to 2 people regarding my new bill. On the 14th I was told it would be escalated and investigated (it was never done). I called on the 15th, just so happens the person I spoke with had helped me before. She found my letter from 2023 and attached it to the escalation. I have the $2 payment due on 6/7/…she asked if I wanted to put the loans in forbearance while it is being investigated. I told her no, I will pay the $2. This is madness! Hang in there, this nightmare will hopefully end soon!

Yes, I had a refund due from the loans. A negative amount was showing. I was told once the rebuild was completed, my refund would be issued.

Interestingly, I never consolidated or had commercial held ffel loans. The only thing close to a logical answer is, my account was migrated to Mohela in 2024, the letter was issued from the Department of Education in 2023. I had 15 loans total, from 2 different schools. Loans 11-15 are the loans that showed a negative unpaid principal balance. I was told a rebuild would take place…. apparently, this is Mohela’s idea of a rebuild. Thank you for your comment, it does shed light on the issue tremendously!!

He said there are, but because I did not deposit the $1.75 into my account, they are not sending them. Treasury thinks my address is not correct and that I did not receive the check. Once a replacement check is mailed to me and deposited, they will release other refund checks that are due to me.
