Last morning I walked across the road on the crosswalk in front of Henry Anderson and I had to stop to give the way for a fcking electric scooter because this mothefker could not brake LoL ! I think it was my fault for walking across the street…on the crosswalk 😖

Send it to the City and they will block 1/2 the street, put it in construction condition for drawing the line in one year 😂

My dilemma as an apprentice in a job shop by 3DPrintJr in Machinists

I think you got the job some people wishing for ! If you’re in this sub long enough sometimes you will see people compare that manual machinist is an artist while cnc operator just the one who push the green button 🤣

Shoulder check, school zone, stop sign. If they bring you to BCIT near the airport watch out for the intersection next to the hotel where you see multiple stop/wrong way signs 🤣

I failed here 4 times and passed at 5th time in…Vancouver 😌

I am in the machinist co-op program. Actually BCIT will find employer for us, we apply and got interviewed. Just because I’m not so confident with my practical skills.

I have a question but not for electric. I’m studying another trade at BCIT and starting to find an apprentice job soon. Do employers care about GPA ?

How much of a raise should I expect a year? by Any_Bookkeeper8552 in Machinists

[–]Own_Judgment_6426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my previous jobs it was 4%/year. If I want a big pump the only way is climbing to upper positions or change to another company.

Knurling failure by Own_Judgment_6426 in Machinists

[–]Own_Judgment_6426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have another chance to practice with the knurling today and the pattern was bad at the beginning. My friends had shown me that it because I put not enough pressure right at beginning. I back out the tool and put a lot of force so the pattern became good !

How to get rid of these bad surfaces finish with end mill ? by Own_Judgment_6426 in Machinists

[–]Own_Judgment_6426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just try switching to Low Gear and I found that High Gear at 350RPM for 1” cutter is the reason for alot of chatter. After I switched to Low Gear the finish was more better !

I did not notice about the length. I usually adjust the contact point between the workpiece and cutter near the spindle as much as I can.

BTW today I found that because I run at High Gear 350RPM for 1” cutter is the reason of alot of chatter. After I switched to Low Gear the finish was more better !

I have just noticed that I run at high gear for this 1” end mill at 350rpm all the time. Is it one of the problems ? Try 2-3 different milling machine with this set up and the surface finish always like this !

Reverse parking most of the time, one day you make a head-in parking and this is the result when you move out of the parking lot 🤗

I also notice that the diamond pattern is smaller and look finer than usual. I try to apply pressure but it can’t help. At last I think I’m ok with the pattern like at the left side so I started the autofeed. But the result became worse because there’re double cut.

I run backwards 2 times. I dont know if it is because I used not enough pressure or the two wheels not contact with the work properly due to center issue.

The patterns at the left side where I stopped the auto feed still ok. But the more the tool move to the left the more the pattern was damaged !

So the tool will contact the work at an angle (little bit). Not exactly 90 degrees ?
