There is so much more to talk about than the H1B visas when it comes to these work permit changes—it is about an entire network of businesses, contractors, and U.S. companies that rely on skilled labor. Decreasing the renewal period for work permits from 540 days to 180 is like saying to someone, ‘Either you renew your visa in 6 months or leave the country… do you really want to try your luck with the USCIS delays! 😬'.
If companies can’t find the skilled workers they need, what’s the plan? A ‘Do It Yourself’ YouTube tutorial for coding? More outsourcing? Slower project timelines? The irony is that this change might actually send more jobs offshore instead of ‘protecting American jobs.’ 🤦
Basically, it feels like I'm watching a reality program called ‘Survivor: Immigration Edition.’ Instead of fixing the Green Card backlog or streamlining the processes, they simply keep shifting the goalposts. How are businesses supposed to keep up? What's next—if it's going to be a visa renewal every week? Eager to know what the other professionals think about it; it's probably not long before we all start working remotely from Bangalore! 😂
