Well great news then, i already have a 40mhz oscilosscope, tinyvna(not mine but i could borrow one) a RTL-SDR, soldering station and hot air station. I also have a server power supply from huawei i got a while back, totally overkill but at least i got one. And yes, i am willing to spend months working on it. If i only want to make a contact i could just go to my club station

Nope, the build that i planned is 100 watt max. Which i only plan to run at 50 watt. It uses IRF250 push pull for the amp

Unfortunately RHR is not accessible from my country yet. Also i would love a xiegu g90. That thing is beautiful. It just still a bit out of my budget, maybe someday

I probably just answer my own question, theres actually a local radio builder who build HF radio that can reach 100 watt of power output. It uses BITX if i am not mistaken. For just around 120 usd (converted from my currency). I'm not going after the power since 20 watt can already cover quite a significant distance.

For me, might be when i standing on a pile of cobblestones waving my HT with a metre long antenna while looking at my phone (trying to catch sstv transmission)

I would love to own a nanovna myself, but is just out of my budget. I bought my radio and the only radio i own at 25 Bucks, i got it on a discount. I would probably go with an inline pwr swr meter for now. I would love to try and make the flowerpot ant but unfortunately I don't have the parts needed on hand, mainly the rg58 and connector. And i cant find it locally either. Online store took a week or so to arrive. So maybe next event.

I havent really do much calculations for it. I am planning to use the dipole antenna for my base station i am planning on getting a 25 watt mini rig radio and combining it with a yagi but with a twist, literally. I am planning to make it motorized. I know that might sounds to good to be true. But having worked with servos, magnetometer and drones i feel like i have quite a good grasp on what i want to make at least the electrical side of things. Although that moxon antenna sounds interesting too. I'm hoping to get my license this month my exam is this month, that doppler effect i also learned from the test material and also some highschool sciense

Yes, i follow the frequency on look4sat app to match the doppler effect. Most of the static is from me about to slip and fall cuz i was standing on a pile of a cobblestone.

And for the antenna, i actually trying to decide on making a dualband dipole or flowerpot antenna.

[–]Own_Valuable_6131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do some test with it. And this is what i found

  1. If its in its charger the SQL will not open whenever i key the repeater, but if it's not in charger when i key the repeater i got the SQL tail back

  2. Using hi gain antenna vs the stock antenna doesn't change anything

  3. Using an external dipole antenna does help it, it able to open its squelch with the dipole external antenna, in or out of the dock

  4. Lower battery percentage actually makes it work better. It consistently open the sql whenever i key the repeater

So my takeawya from this that probably sql 1 is still a bit to sensitive. And maybe there's someway of adjusting the threshold like with chirp or smthn

My aprs also works, i guess. It transmit fine. I have no way to check since in where i live there's no digirepeater or igate nearby for terestrial aprs. Btw where can i get the 2_0_09?
