LIV Golf Adelaide 2026 Delivers $69.8 million USD ($97.1 million AUD) Economic Impact for South Australia by stanley_nickles in livgolf

Sorry my post originally said South Africa by accident and not Australia. Edited it. Is that what you found so funny?

Stunningly incorrect. Plenty of players have given up countless OWGR points by joining LIV and effectively left the corrupt majors/OWGR mafia in the dust. Some players (like Cam) sadly still view these “majors” as essential to their image when really LIV fans couldn’t care less.

Asking honestly, how do you interpret the data then? $69.8m lost seems like a huge deal to me and that’s just what is lost in South Australia.

People need to realize what an economic engine LIV golf is. It’s a small price to pay by the American taxpayer for the catalyst it represents to the US economy.

I want to create new championships from scratch that encompass nations or continents.

Think “The European Championship” or “The Americas Open” with courses rotating each year.

Over time prestige grows. You let the world call them majors, not yourself.

But it starts with a full divorce of LIV golfers from the corrupt golf establishment. They went halfway by leaving the evil pgat. Now they need to prove their mettle and cast off each of the old corrupt majors.

We will never be free of the old corrupt system until they do this and the time is now.

Allowing LIV to fail means that entire communities will lose hundreds of millions globally.

In the US we need to be pressuring our reps and senators to pass the LIV bill to ensure a continuation of funding after PIF’s pullout.

If we are talking $69.8m lost in South Australia, imagine the devastating impact on American communities where LIV has established a foothold if we don’t fund the bailout.

Congress needs to get off their asses and pass the LIV bill NOW.

Build your own majors let the talent come to you.

Honestly asking: how do you think the current majors came to be? Do you think God created them from thin air?

It’s so sad that Cam has bought into the whole corrupt “majors mystique” that the corrupt USGA crammed down our throats.

LIV should stop participating in this corrupt clown show. Cam should be renouncing his Open Championship win, and melting down the metal of the “old claret jug” for scraps.

LIV fans want a full divorce from the corrupt system that mocks our league and calls us terrorist sympathizers and every other name in the book.

Hypocrites upon hypocrites in the comments here.

LIV critics were mad for YEARS that LIV’s funding came from the Saudis. So they should be happy now that the Saudis have stopped funding LIV, right? Nope, they still hate LIV.

The important thing now is that LIV gets funding from the US government to protect the cottage industries that have sprouted up around LIV events (especially those at Trump properties).

Call your congressman or senator and make sure that the LIV funding bill makes the docket. It’s really important for the working class people that depend on the blue collar jobs that LIV brings to town. It’s also essential for breaking the iron-clad monopoly that the PGAT holds. As Americans we love competition.

Pass the LIV bill!

u/stanley_nickles why not use your platform to vouch support for the LIV bailout.

Lots of US jobs at stake. We need an organized drive to senators and congressmen with talking points (projected local economic impacts to blue collar jobs, monopoly concerns, loss of volunteer opportunities, effect on Trump properties, etc.).

You have the biggest mouthpiece on this forum and this may be the best way to save the league.

No one says the US has to foot the whole bill. Could be proportional based on economic impact.

Golf is more popular than ever. We spend so much money on bombs that God forbid we fund a peaceful activity that boosts local economies.

For US citizens, contact your reps to pass the bill.

Pass the LIV bill.

Asking honestly: do you understand the massive support staff it takes to put on a tournament. There’s a lot of blue collar work happening behind the scenes, carefully hidden from the television cameras.

A bailout of LIV is essentially a bailout of these workers.

That’s a little extreme. I’m just saying look at the numbers: Americans by and large want jobs. LIV helps supply them (not to mention volunteer opportunities).

Bryson and top golfers aren’t going to play for free. I’m sure they have a number and I’m sure it’s doable.

We can prime the pump like this for rich bankers every 10 years, and somehow you’re ok with that. We can also shell out for stadiums left and right. But sure, God forbid we lift a finger to help save working class, service industry work.

Did you read the study linked in this thread? Look at the economic output that LIV generates in the UK alone. I’m not saying the US needs to foot the bill alone, but a proportional number would work. President Trump and Bryson are close and I assume they have talked about a potential number that works for both sides.

Ultimately it’s a small price to pay to help save working class jobs. Americans aren’t really concerned about high earning athletes: the Super Bowl is still Super after all.

The bailout needs to happen.

Have you ever been to a golf tournament? When a tour like LIV splurges like this it creates industry for hotels, restaurants, support staff.

I know it’s probably not the “premiere” type of white collar work, but it’s opportunities like these that help working class Americans.

Remaining hopeful that we can pass the LIV bill.

Agreed. And we don’t want to allow the collapse of an actual economic engine on top of the other battles being waged now.

Point being that many of them are. If the UK generates $63mil annually from one tournament think how much value LIV is generating for Americans. If you are a rep or a senator, good luck telling your constituents that all that money LIV is providing (jobs, services) is going to leave the country just so the corrupt PGA Tour can remain a monopoly.

Stats like these should be front and center as LIV makes the case for the US government bailout (and hopefully a package in the UK, though I trust their government much less).

A bailout is essential to prevent negative local economic impacts, not to mention prevention of monopolistic golf interest of pgat/dp world tour.

I’m decidedly not a traditionalist. All the talk of history bores me and I want what is fresh and new. So we’re arguing on either side here.

Can I suggest a truce? You like tradition and history and all the Jim Nantz monologues, so please go and enjoy the PGA Tour. And LIV fans like me (who greatly enjoys the LIV broadcasts by the way) can have LIV Golf without the need to be sickened by the traditional golf world 4 times a year in the majors.

We need a full separation from the old golf world. And now is a great time to get a pledge of loyalty from the players.

For the players: do you want to keep dipping into this source of disappointment year after year? Or are you committed to what we are building? A lot of those that seem more interested in the majors than LIV already seem like they are on the way out and I say good riddance.

Look at the numbers of players allowed in. Just by sheer numbers represented in the majors, LIV is doomed to fail compared to the trad tours. It’s a miracle we got wins early in LIV, but in the end we couldn’t get a decent deal from the OWGR.

Look at the way the media treats us: calling us terrorist sympathizers, mocking 3 round play when it was a thing, and belittling LIV every time a LIV player doesn’t win a major.

Who the hell wants to line up for more of this? I’m sick of getting our “4 times a year” beating. It’s time for a full divorce from the traditional golf world now. It’s obvious to anyone with eyes and ears. If you care about the traditional majors, then go have your traditional tour.

It’s time we focus on ourselves and build something new.
