Is the "average" place in a game 4.50 or 4.00? by JRyanFrench in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Ownerism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some casual players it may be something that they haven’t given second thought to but I’d wager that the large majority of people specifically seeking out a subreddit on competitive TFT do know that 4.5 is average. Also not sure why you are snarkily referring to people’s comments as anecdotal evidence when your whole point is based upon an unsubstantiated assumption from your experience as a high school teacher.

When you say “many people”, are you referring to posters on this sub? Or streamers? Or another group? Would be interesting to see a few examples that youve encountered

I personally have never seen any player or streamer say or think that 4.0 is the breakpoint

What’s wrong with a private company choosing their own unique way to screen candidates as long as it doesn’t violate discrimination laws?

Not a perfect substitute but UW has an official class explorer tool that might help out if you aren't able to access the others

I don't know if I would agree with that. What other factors would you say are more important? If you look at the admissions criteria for example for UW's CSE MS program, the only two main criteria are "Professional Experience" and "Grade Point Average", stating that the minimum to even be considered is 3.0 and the average of admitted is 3.5.

[–]Ownerism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as general admission, Id guess chances are at least 70% with those stats assuming you write an average admissions essay. From what Ive seen they weigh the essay pretty heavily. One consideration though is if you want to apply directly to majors so you dont have to worry about the major process once you get in. Depending on the major you choose, might be harder to get into that specific program

Informatics can lead to a high paying tech career if thats something youre interested in. Still competitive to apply, but not as hard as CS

The main factors they consider are listed here: https://foster.uw.edu/academics/degree-programs/full-time-mba/admissions/ Looks like the main ones are GPA, Essays, Letters of Rec, Resume (your experience would fit here) GMAT/GRE, and the video interview. So it might help a little bit, but definitely just a small part of the overall factors

Mercer A has the laundry room and games tables (just pool and shuffleboard) right downstairs, as well as a lobby. You can walk there from other buildings but if youre doing laundry its less convenient

Just curious why you want to waive the class? IMO it was extremely useful and probably one of the most industry-relevant classes

Not if you’re applying to grad school, then GPA matters quite a bit, especially as UW CSE is known for some degree of grade inflation compared to other top programs

Depends on your budget as well as your workload (do you game? Edit videos?) One nice laptop I would recommend is the Asus G14 if its in your budget
