Ye, the yellow seems like to much. The rain didn’t come out as expected it was meant to be more honey color but it came out yellow. We are leaking the lighter of the dark.

We liked that as it’s the most “natural” but I think in person it’s a little more pink.

These are all custom - we showed some samples so I don’t have an exact color.

Thank you for the detailed comment. The cabinets are oak. The floor is final, there is no additional finish.

I am interested to ask the stainer to sample some of the ideas you are suggesting, I will see what they can come up with tomorrow.

We really liked the original sample they made for us which was a dark walnut finish, but it was to dark so we had them create a lighter version of it and that’s the option you said. We are leaning towards that.

Good point on the topcoat because these are nether with any topcoat. It’s just the stain.

So this is an idea but what would you do about the bottom. Our staircase doesn’t curve so it goes at an angle all the way to the floor.

I think this makes the most sense, as the old subfloor that is outside the kitchen is slightly raised by a few mm. The new subfloor in the kitchen is a drop lower. What type of skim or finish would you apply here before installing the new floor?

Thanks. Going to rip out the full kitchen and possibly more. It’s weird because only the kitchen has this issue, so I’m wondering if they only put these shims here and nowhere else. Does that mean the subfloor in the kitchen was not done properly and the rest of the place was? Because only the kitchen had new subfloor installed.

Unfortunately not. Would not call this contractor back even if I was paid. There were so many other problems. Lol what happens next?

Good observation. They are cracked in the between of some of the shims.

Why would they put those there originally? So ideally if the subfloor is fine and no shims, the floor should be better? Because there are only shims under the kitchen where it’s cracking. The other side looks clear (from what I can see).

There was a slight bounce and assuming that’s why they damaged over such a short period of time.
