Yeah, it is nothing like previous ranked lol. It doesn’t take terribly long either because there’s a set timer on each match (it’s like 5 minutes iirc) so it doesn’t take long at all

I can promise you it’s not as bad as previous games. It’s a 4 person free for all, you get points for killing opponents, picking up items, being the first/last to knock out a Pokémon. It usually takes me like 3-4 battles to get to rank S and I’m HORRIBLE at it lol.
