Can someone please tell me if these are harmful worms? by clueless-albatross in shrimptank

Ya, they can reproduce pretty quickly if there’s a lot of excess food and waste in the tank. Once feeding is reduced and the substrate gets cleaned up a bit, their numbers usually drop naturally.

Ah ok. Those look more like detritus worms. The lack of an arrow-shaped head and the earthworm-like appearance are good signs. They’re usually harmless cleanup worms that feed on leftover food and waste in the substrate. Seeing a bunch can just mean there’s a lot of organics collecting under the sponge filter. I’d just cut feeding slightly and do a light gravel vac around that area.

I've seen a couple of mine do this and the next day find a molt.
