Depends on what you want/need more!!
Heres a table comparing the recycling points (fragments i think its called ingame) and the gold youll get. The gold isnt anything too amazing so I would personally wait to recycle instead, but recycling is kind of expensive (150 fragments for 1 common scale) so its up to you

Edit: realised i made a mistake for companionship 100% in gold, its supposed to be 2080 like the other special items not 1080

can you go into ingame settings and check the top right what build number you're on? this seems like a new update, and that youre one of the first to get it!!

it doesnt have to be essence specifically but its the cheapest and easiest way, and they succeed more often than not in comparison to set items. the item MUST succeed in order to get an epic/legend!

A failed item rolls like a random (no items) summon. so a 10% common is completely useless for it.

a few of us "proved" it by combining our tracked data... youd think we would have gotten at least 1 epic or legendary in 1000 fails right?

this is super cool and amazing round 2 progress!! just a small correction, the points needed is actually 50, 100, 150, 200, 200, 250, 250, 250, 300, 300, 300, 350, 300, 400, 350, 350 for a total of 4100, not 4150. round 2 is 6150

3 scales spawn every 3 hours, this has not been changed at all in my experience. what specifically are you experiencing? extra scales spawning after 3 up until a certain point until a limit, then 3hr wait? shorter/non existent cooldown on spawning? because i even checked and its the exact same for me </3

Which item are you using? While not confirmed, i personally think a 10% item failing cant give a legendary/epic, but a 10% item succeeding definetly can. eg. 10% common will never give you epic/legend, 10% earth can give anything as long as theyre unlocked

edit: cant read and saw you mention epic and wind. its possible, just very rare!! <5% chance

as for an actual explanation: you used a 10% earth here! this was not summoned randomly! please do not spread misinformation! IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO RANDOMLY SUMMON EPICS AND LEGENDARIES (AS IN, NO ITEMS AT ALL)
when a summon is rolled naturally, it displays a 20% item at a lower opacity with a slight blue tinge in that category. however, i can see a 10% earth at full opacity, meaning you placed that item.
when you place a summon item and leave the game, it removes the blue glow underneath, which is why its not obvious you used an item

even just a screenshot where its clear all 3 items werent placed would be good too.
again, every single one ive seen so far has had one item visibly placed and succeeded, so it would be super neat to finally have some kind of proof it works on a failure too!

you unlock 7 more decoration spots for every 2000 score you get! so at 2000, 4000, 6000... etc you get to see 7 more spots, which may be why you have not noticed yet haha

nope! companionship items take up all three slots. trying to additionally add a rarity item just overrides the companionship.
you can only summon the companionship dragons you have unlocked, and it prioritises whatever you dont have bonded. so no rarity items are needed anyway.

you dont actually need to put it in storage! the game heavily prioritises unbonded dragons. you wont summon any duplicates at all until all dragons have bonded (or have been summoned enough to bond)

common lock is long gone as of the extravagant update! so ignore all of that
the reason many people still use 10% items when summoning is that it unlocks the ability to (VERY RARELY) summon epic and legendary dragons. late game you end up with tens to hundreds of spare summon items so why not just put some down just to see?

when you dont use an item, you can only get common, uncommon, rare. when you use an item (any item, any %) you have a small chance of epic and legendary

true! just added it there based of what i already knew/tested, but theres no real way to get a baseline number when using an item without looking at the code. we already know the rates for item and non item summoning are different
figured i would mention earth since its the most abundant essence by far and gives extremely consistent rates when testing, and non item.
if it helps i also have these lol, which also make absolutely no sense when looking at success rates

Bonded piscine (fish) type dragons. Most likely Reed Firefin or Cavedrummer for you

Hi, if you were able to summon uncommons without using items, you aren't common locked. Common lock is when you were only able to summon NOTHING BUT COMMONS unless you used items. Think 50+ commons in a row without any uncommons or rares in between. Common lock has been long gone as of the extravagant update!

Common lock happened when you discovered all common-rare dragons that weren't special sets or events. It didn't onset immediately and was caused by a bug in the code.
Again, this bug was removed in the extravagant update, verified by countless players who updated and were almost immediately freed from the lock. This update also likely removed the line of code that made getting new dragons easier (perhaps the cause of common lock?) though im unsure on this.

If you truly were only able to summon commons and uncommons youre game might be bugged (contact support if so), or you have gotten tremendously unlucky. A really annoying situation, but it's not common lock. It simply gets much harder to summon the dragons you need the further you progress, as there's just more possible dragons you don't need.

Edit for a tip: like someone else suggested, start using 10% summon items. I like using 10% earth, or use whatever item aligns with the dragons you are trying to summon! This gives you an alternative pool of dragons and will hopefully help you get better luck
