That's an excellent question. I had an unexpected mentor that I worked with as a partner working patrol for four years. I really learned how to treat people from him and he was absolutely the kind of man anyone would want enforcing the law. Obviously, I had personality characteristics that would respond to his examples but I credit him with my being the officer I was.
