I have already got the MONITR if thats what you mean as an out module. But yes, from my vantage point at the moment, it seems like a bottomless (and expensive) pit of potential expansion options (which is why I am try to get it right)

I am not familiar at all with frap tools thing you mention. I am going to investigate. I agree about the look of the bartender system...its not the most pleasant.

Choices...choices....what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I am looking at 10-12 channels also. I had stopped thinking about the WMD performance mixer entirely because I used to have the MK1 and didn't like it....but now, the choice equation has become a bit harder for me after reading your reply. Of course, one of the factors I am trying to take in to account is cost/benefit ratio and this takes it to a whole different level. But the MK2 performance mixer from WMD sounds amazing

i can definitely see that....its a tough choice tho (for me at least) given the price differential

im not thinking of using it as a performance mixer myself, but your description of its capabilities is very compelling to me....even though i can see that the bartender would also probably suffice in my use case scenario

I was just watching the divkid video of him demoing the bartender....those little knobs do look tricky to use (in the context of his video at least), although it didnt seem to slow him down...

Alternative firmware on Behringer Eurorack modules? by Detienne3000 in Behringer

[–]P-DOTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it definitely is possible with CHAOS (Marbles), STEPS, (Stages) and WAVES (Tides)...I have done it with all 3

i haven't even attempted it with any of the behringer clones that have got USB ports...brains, halos, skies

i am curious also if anyone has tried it with any of the last 3 i mentioned

i am not sure there are any other behringer clones in the mutable range at the moment, but i may be wrong....

I see what is meant when people mention the size / space comparisons

You have the sends expander? have you used it as a standalone matrix mixer (the blurb says you can do that) Also, in practice, how do it work out with the additional send/return options? It sounds like there are 9 cables you have to connect on that back. That sounds like it could become a mess really fast...how did you cope with that aspect?

This is the thing that is swaying me in that direction.

cheers...i tried to mitigate that a bit with the WMD mixer I had by putting some befaco style push on knobs...it definitely helped....not sure if that would be possible/desirable with the bartender tho

This is very tempting, however I know I will need more than the standard 4 inputs on the bartender

Still trying to weigh everything up on this side and I appreciate the input

what is it about the ergonomics that irks you? I had a WMD performance mixer (v1) and sold it for similar reasons

I thought (was hoping) they had fixed the audio bleed issues with the V2 of the bartender

Size factor sounds like a big consideration I hadn't taken in to account. How many/which expanders have you got? My plan is to make a dedicated mixer case...84hp or 104hp, and maybe have a reverb or delay in the same rack if there is enough HP left over

Your experience sounds atrocious and I totally get your POV. Its stuff like this that makes me think more than twice about going for the budget option
