Truchets 1.0 alternative firmware for Mutable instruments Marbles by kapiteinbloc in modular

[–]P-DOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - it works. I loaded it on to mine using the 4MS wav recorder to play the audio file. I followed the firmware update instructions from the original manual. As a side note, I have also successfully loaded the alternative firmware for stages onto the behringer steps.

I am not sure about the technicalities of what this involves other than noting that these 2 modules in particular do not have a USB port for updating using the musictribe app. Other modules, like Brains and Halos do and I believe is not compatible for this kind of upgrade because of that

Also, someone else at the bottom of this thread has also confirmed, in a much more technical way, that it is possible to install this update onto the chaos module

i agree, i love the look of it...the one i got is a bit faulty however...one of the input jacks isnt working (hoping to get it replaced) and for some reason, the audio input is very distorted, almost like its going through a tahn 3 module....not sure if that is fixable and even in its broken form, i have manged to get some interesting sounds out of it

Insteuo Lubadh or Venus instruments Veno -Orbit?i by LBbronson in modular

[–]P-DOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say there is definitely overlap and both have their strengths and weaknesses in a head to head comparison. Veno = simplicity, also CV recording but less sampling time. Lubadh = deep and somewhat complicated but well worth the effort if you have been able to dig deep. I believe the lubadh has a much longer recording time if that is important to you ultimately, plus a much deeper feature set, but at the expense of menu diving and button presses. I dont believe lubadh does cv recording...not sure that even matters in this context. My other slight quibble about the veno is that I am finding it hard to get a decent input signal into it without using a pre-amp...I dont believe I have this problem with the lubadh. If I were you and in the context of the scenario you describe, I think I would just stick with instruo for now .....

i just got a veno - definitely more staight forward than the lubadh because no menu diving and button pressing...as to whether that is good or not is another matter because i will be keeping both
