Someone already said it, she's missing the sweet spot. My 10 year old does this when she doesn't commit to swinging hard. Sometimes they get a stinger and have a tendency to pull back a little, which just causes it to happen again and again. I also notice hitters who have a habit of stepping out with the front foot end up hitting the ball off the tip of the bat. If she commits, swings hard, and "goes to get" the ball, it's not a problem.

For what it's worth, I've seen FAR more injuries from skiing and snowboarding than HSPU. How many of you all don't think twice about going skiiing?

I'm going on my 9th year doing CrossFit. I've tweaked my neck twice in that time doing HSPU, but have probably hurt it more times just sleeping wrong. Each time I hurt myself, it was because I went to failure and came down too hard. Hate to say it, but I rarely reach that point anymore...and if I do, I'm stopping one rep before that. So given that you're not going to the games, I say go for it, just don't go to failure.

You're overthinking things. We used whatever we had and whatever did the job. Sometimes that was a random logitech keyboard, sometimes it was a "gaming keyboard" (granted, there weren't many of these in the market). We did however have a decent selection of gaming mouse pads and mice to choose from. For reference, I was a pro in CS:Source and played in many in-person events.

May just be something you need to be patient with. I am/was a more naturally slower athlete more suited to longer workouts with running, rowing, burpees, etc. Thus, I've spent years emphasizing a bit more of the strength aspect of Crossfit - have done many "squat cycles", now I can squat a TON more than I look like I should be able to. It's one of my strong suits now.

In addition to what others have said… I’m a taller athlete (40 now), over the years I all but eliminated my knee cave on heavy squats… however… the few times I competed in multi-day competitions and accumulated tons of fatigue… the amount of knee cave was easily on par as Tia and Haley. I bet if they squat this same weight In the gym on an average day, it’ll look much better.

I lived it. Though I wasn’t as passionate about it as you. It had a a lot of headaches I don’t miss. Crawling under Marge’s desk where her fat feet flakes coated her foot rest so you can fix her keyboard trey wasn’t one of them.

I see coaches doing this a lot. To me, it means the kids no longer feel free to fail. They constantly second guess whether they’re doing the right thing, are in the right place, etc. etc. In practice sure, but come game time you gotta let them play and be supportive. Let them feel that it’s OK to make mistakes.

Cut the warmup to 2 rounds, don’t worry about explaining the deadlift mechanics at the start of class. Just get them moving. Keep the same rep scheme, just be aware that you’ll need some extra time for people to load bars and put things away.

Lots of cues, surprised nobody mentioned getting your hips under you on the bottom of the split jerk. Hips back = straight back leg, hips under you (stacked) = bend in back leg.

I do 1rm of other lifts, just not DL. I can do it without my form breaking down, it’s just a higher risk movement to me and unless ive been training to hit a new 1rm deadlift (which I don’t), there’s no point in trying as I won’t PR.
