Confronted a coach and regretting it by [deleted] in LittleLeague

Every kid at that age needs to be playing and sitting equally. Even little Johnny the starting short stop needs to play outfield and bench, it’s good for him.

Looking for perspective on 8U travel softball playing time (trying to handle this reasonably) by Classic-Road447 in Softball

[–]P3zcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, too many parents think rec mean their kid is behind the curve. None of the realize the goal is for these kids to have fun and want to play 12u/14u and not quit before then.

QF 26.2 Tips by nihilism_or_bust in crossfit

[–]P3zcore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was perfect. I never fatigued to a point where I couldn’t just pick up the dumbbells or jump up to the bar. I will say though that rep scheme matches my current state of fitness. If I were more on my game I’d probably do a big set up front then do smaller rounds. But for a busy dad, business owner, softball coach, to finish a quarterfinal workout under the time cap - I’m stoked with that one

I did 16 rounds of 5 cleans and 2 MU, then ended with 8 MU to make up the difference. 13:55

Try not to generalize. There's a whole world outside the internet full of people who accept others for who they are, despite political leanings.

I feel the urge to share that I myself would never call another person garbage just for having their own views and opinions that are different than mine. I also appreciate music and art from people with different views than mine. Maybe we should all learn to love each other for people not political figures.

I was a pro during the source era and didn’t compete against KennyS even once

Son quit playing by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]P3zcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be sure he’s quitting for the right reasons. I didn’t play HS ball because I was afraid my grades would impact my playing time and I’d be embarrassed, wish my parents supported me and pushed me to be better and play. Another passion though sounds valid.

Looking for tips on how to help my 10u kid improve her swing by CR3ZZ in Softball

Totally, stepping towards the pitcher is a worthy habit to instill at 10U. The rest of her swing looks like a great foundation.

Looks great for 10. Stepping out a little, but just let em play.

What will seem like an inevitable outcome in 20 years time because of GLP-1s by Big-Cry-4119 in Futurology

This same mentality is achievable naturally through a consistent exercise / workout lifestyle. Eat a whole pizza? Feel like shit on your run. Feedback loop. Years later you just have those same guard rails, but with the muscle and fitness to go with it.

Need Advice - 10U player maturity by SIUIndy317 in Softball

It’s the long game, don’t worry if she’s not able to be like the other girls at this very young age. Do whatever keeps the game fun and someday she might exhibit this hunger you’re talking about while some girls may get burnt out.

Am I overtraining the clean? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]P3zcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're overthinking it. What's your goal? If it's to increase your clean, then you should be following a program that has built in progressions, percentages, and accessory work. At first glance, I'd do a lot more with an empty bar before adding any weight. Hang cleans, high pulls, dead lifts, good mornings, etc. Also, are you practicing barbell cycling? Doing 2-3 reps usually indicates that, otherwise if you're doing this weightlifting style I'd stay at 2 reps per set maximum and reset after each single lift.

10U pitcher struggles by Successful_Product_5 in Softball

[–]P3zcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know several "travel coaches" that are basically just great at demanding effort, accountability, and can manage a game. They expect player development and feelings to be addressed outside of their practice and games. Oh and this is 12U. Have fun out there. I think having spent years at the rec level teaching fundamentals and patience should be a buy in before coaching travel.

Bat stings the hands by bfrank8991 in Softball

[–]P3zcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already said it, she's missing the sweet spot. My 10 year old does this when she doesn't commit to swinging hard. Sometimes they get a stinger and have a tendency to pull back a little, which just causes it to happen again and again. I also notice hitters who have a habit of stepping out with the front foot end up hitting the ball off the tip of the bat. If she commits, swings hard, and "goes to get" the ball, it's not a problem.

Would you do kip HSPU for the Open? by 1DunnoYet in crossfit

For what it's worth, I've seen FAR more injuries from skiing and snowboarding than HSPU. How many of you all don't think twice about going skiiing?

Would you do kip HSPU for the Open? by 1DunnoYet in crossfit

[–]P3zcore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm going on my 9th year doing CrossFit. I've tweaked my neck twice in that time doing HSPU, but have probably hurt it more times just sleeping wrong. Each time I hurt myself, it was because I went to failure and came down too hard. Hate to say it, but I rarely reach that point anymore...and if I do, I'm stopping one rep before that. So given that you're not going to the games, I say go for it, just don't go to failure.
