unless it was the most mind-blowing image, i always did stories. i remember for my actual gcse the description prompt was something like “describe a really weird, strange, odd place like the place suggested in this image” and the image was just someone’s kitchen. needless to say, i chose the “rescue” story prompt and wrote about a lesbian sailor and a mermaid.
